can suboxone cause false positive on urine test fro cocaine? listen i have been 100% sober since 10-10-2010. icompleted php, iop, and aftercare with laurelwood.. i had a horrible mouth pain fand diagnosed with triamelgia and perscribed tegrotol and anti seizure generic is carbedezpene. then in sept i have a massive lung infection called empemia, i was admitted for thrree weeks and had a very extensive surgery called VATS thats where they insert 3 incisions ans draw out the infection thar was pus pocketing. it took 8 hours for surgey and was mistreated...discharged on bed rest 10-01-2010 and used antibiotics, leviquin, and like four others and ultram, ibprofen 800, selexa, colonzepam, saraquil, a pill for high blood pressure trietremene with water pill, neurotin, albuteral, pulmacourt, flowvent, nasal spray, calcium, reclipsen for bc, z-pak now, suboxone for heroin relapse preventin, please please iswear to god 100 mill percent i have not used a single illegal substance since my sob date. only what was prescribed and in hosp i unfourtantely had to accewpt iv pin medication after surgery,.....i am about to give up for get it man. wveryone thinks i am dirty and so does my po. testwas last monday and she vcalled 4 days later theus to tell me positive for coccaine. great!! i mean come on please help me i amvery upset, scared, feel alone, worried, i have three babies.

Did they by any chance have you on antibiotics when you were in the hospital for that infection and surgery?

Many antibiotics are known to cause false positives for cocaine, such as Ampicillin, Amoxicillin and their relatives.

There are numerous cross-reactants for cocaine at the level of initial screening (immunoassay, IA). Too often the lab, by agreement with the ordering agency, relies on the IA and does not perform confirmatory testing by GC/MS or equivalent.

It sounds as though that may be the case in your example. The more precise confirmatory test provides a molecular fingerprint of the substance, a spectrum. It would also quantify the substance.

Do you know if that was the case? Do you have a copy of the lab results?
