I have Afrial Fib which is not behaving I can be 70 beats one min and regular and the next I will be at 190 and in atrial fib and flutter. this is my last chance at a med I have tried all the others I usually end up in the ER two or three times a week. I have had one ablation so far. If anyone else takes it please let me know what it is like. I am starting it on Tuesday.

I was diagnosed with a-fib and a-flutter in 2007 at 32 years old. I have tried many medications but they did not work. I have had 3 ablations -2 for flutter and 1 for a-fib. While these kept me in sinus rhythm pretty well. I could still feel the strange heart beats. I was diagnosed wih sarcoidosis two weeks ago and went into afib during a breathing test.

This led the doctors to look into my heart condition again. This time he put me on Multaq. I have had 3 doses but now have HORRIBLE headaches. I had the same problem on other heart meds. Has anyone else had this same problem and does it go away.

I too used to smoke but quit after 15 years with hypnosis but you also have to do your part. I made myself not smoke another after the hypnosis.

FLEMETON
The GHR website that sells Flemeton is a con. The company does NOT have an office in NZ as stated on their site. The product is sent from Pakistan and who knows what it contains. The NZ Ministry of Health states the Gordons Health Research site is a money making scam. Their are at least 65 other sites with the same wording as the Flemeton site that supposedly cure other diseases. They all offer the exact same testimonials for 65 different cures.

I had two ablations since January and am taking Multaq. I am still having irregular beats and flutter. I see no change in my condition and have developed lightheadedness, shortness of breath and an overall ill feeling. I also have very little energy or I should say stamina to keep up with everyday tasks. I am also on a betablocker and coumadin. Anyone else feel its the medicine doing this?

I will be more specific this time.
Do you know anyone whose doctor let them cut dose of 800 of Multaq down to 1/2 because i think 800 is overmedicating! I am very concerned about people taking this much, anyone feel the same?Has it been reported that you cannot cut dose down?Would appreciate comment. Thanks to anyone for an answer.

I am a 47 yr . old female, and have had two Open heart surgeries. One was a Mitral Valve Repair, one a Mitral Valve Replacement 14 months later.
Three years ago I developed Atrial Fib and Atrial Tachycardia. I was given Multaq two months ago after Flecainide, and Rythmol SR stopped working for me.
I had been taking a full 325 mg Aspirin as per Drs. request to prevent blood clots fom A-fib, prior to that I was only on an 81 mg. baby asprin for my pig valve.
While taking the Multaq, my a-fib seemed to improve, however.... I felt tired and weak and sick. Almost toxic-like. After about 5-6 weeks I started getting stomach upset, nausea and diarreah. I ended up with a bad case of gastritis, which they say was from long term use of aspirin and adding the new Multaq. I also made the mistake of stopping my aciphex, 2 weeks earlier!
I was in and out of the hospital and had to have and Endoscopy which shows inflamed stomach lining and some erosion. I recieved IV Protonix for a few days in the hospital. I have NEVER been so sick in my life. All of this has made my Atrial Fib worse, as I get dehydrated and have stomach pain often.
When I asked the Drs.questions related to the Multaq they say thay cannot tell me the answers I seek as the drug is so new, that the information on it is very limited and that they JUST DONT KNOW. I have to say, that is extremely disturbing to me. How can they NOt have info on a med that is FDA approved and is given to so many people? The only thing that they could say is that the drug it self stays in your system long after you stop taking it! Months after! That too is a bit alarming.
I was scheduled for an Ablation, but had to postpone because I am too weak and too sick, and the Drs. say that my stomach MUST be completely healed.
I pray that the Ablation will work for me, as it has become life altering.
I hope and pray for all of you that you will also be healed of your A-fibs. God Bless!

Norma, when I took Multaq it made me too tired so my dr. said to take half of the regular dose. I did and it made a difference in how I felt. I ended up stopping it though as it didn't work for me in the end. Having an ablation next month... good luck to you.

I haven't posted in a while as there was nothing to offer. I just had my 6 month (7 actually) follow-up after my 2nd CV on New Year's Eve. I had been on Multaq for about 6 weeks prior, in preparation for the CV. I am 58 and in good health other than the Afib. I nailed the stress test with only two very minor blips in 9 minutes. I have managed to lower my cholesterol since November by 20 points (both total and LDL) through diet and supplements. Lots of nuts, flax, fish oil and a new supplement called Protandim (www.lifevantage.com). I celebrated by going on a 10-mile round-trip hike to a lake at 6000'. I asked my cardiologist about cutting the dosage, and he said, categorically, NO. I've not had any side effects, plenty of energy, I sleep well enough and continue my work as a general contractor and carpenter. While genetics are almost insurmountable, I believe there is much we can do holistically to maintain and improve our health. Best wishes to all!

I just read where the European Society of Cardiology gave Multaq a Class 1A recommendation for first-line treatment of AFib and AFlutter. It's the highest recommendation it can give to a drug based on the evidence, efficacy, and safety it provides patients.

I take Multaq also for A-fib. Still have episodes, but not as many. However, I am exhausted all the time and did not realize it could be the Multaq. My big question is has anyone noticed sexual side effects? It is almost as if I am numb. Could this be from Multaq?

Have been taking multaq since Feb. and except for one day after my Dad died I have had no episodes of a-fib. Sometimes I feel as if I am going to go into it as I get a sensation that something is not right, but, then take a pulse and it is okay. My Doctor says the med is working.

IT IS WORKING FOR ME BUT, IT DID NOT WORK FOR MY FRIEND. I PLAN ON STAYING ON IT AND IT IS THE DRUG WITH THE LEAST SIDE EFFECTS. TRY IT. JUST EAT WITH IT.

I have been taking Mutaq since March 18th 2010. Went into Afib. Probably from stress as all my tests came back fine. 42 yrs old, smoker for 15years.
My Dr. put me on Mutaq 400mg per day, metoprolol 50mg per day and warfarin 7.5 mg. p/day. as a precaution for a few months while monitoring continued.

I should be coming off in Nov. But wanted to tell you about my experiance with Multaq. The two worst parts of Multaq for me have been the abdominal distress and the absolute feeling of no stamina in my muscles. During my job I have to walk up 99 stairs in one place. I can only go 35-40 at a time then have to stop for a min. I am not out of breath but my muscles become lead. After a min I am fine and can go on. This is the worst part. Which is liveable with even though a pain in the posterior.

Second is the absolute bloating and stomache aches and diarehha (sp?). I am a male and have never even thought I would EVER be talking about bloating. But at times I look pregnant.

Third, weight gain. Gained 18 lbs over 7 months. Perhaps because of not moving as much. Since (God willing) it looks like my problem was a one time deal, I can not comment on much as to helping. But if it was helping, I think the problems, except for the bone numbing muscle deadness, can be managed.

I wish you all well.

I have been on Multag for nearly three months, no atrial flutter since starting it. Feel some skipped beats but I think thats ventricular, not atrial. I do have to eat or it makes me really nervous. I have noticed that I have a little tremor in my hands.

After ablation, mini maze and many of the medicines for atrial fib, now atrial flutter and having pvc's the doctor told me I needed a pacemaker. I don't have high blood pressure and the medicines I take cause me to have low blood pressure and then low pause rate (around 40). I was put into the hospital on Thursday, after the doctor told me to stop Sotalol on Monday. This caused all kind of rhythm problems, plus low pulse rate (just starting that problem.) the doctor said I needed a pacemaker and that would stop me from having a low pulse, and they could give me more medicine to keep my rhythm corrected. I was put on Multaq and I'm praying that my blood pressure doesn't drop so low that I have to lay down for awhile. It's an up and down road, as most of you know.

I wouldn't be without mine. I haven't been to the hospital since I started taking it in Feb. I was going at least every two weeks.

I have been on Multaq fora little over 1 week. After three days on it I experienced an exhausted feeling. This lasted 2 days. The last 4 days I have had more energy. My heart is beating irregularly. The doctor wants to see me in two weeks. I have experienced headaches, which I've always had from time to time. I had a pacemaker put in for low pulse rate just 1 day before starting on Multaq. I'm still now sure about this medicine. My big problem is that medicines for my heart causes my blood pressure to go so low that I have to get off it. We're waiting to see what this medicine does. Sure doing a lot of praying.

After being on Multaq for almost 2 weeks, I am getting into normal rhythm. I have not felt totally exhausted for the last week. I have atrial flutter and have pvcs. Had a pacemaker put in 2 weeks ago. The pacemaker is suppose to keep my pulse from getting below 60. I have had one ablation, and one mini maze to correct atrial fib. The new problems I have now started after the two procedures. Now, if my blood pressure doesn't drop too low. Now too encouraged by all the medicines and procedures I have had and still on another medicine, plus Coumadin. Nothing has lasted for a long period of time. Still waiting to see what Multaq does after a period of time.
