Updated

Okay I will start off by saying this drug scares me because it has not been out for very long. I have Afrial Fib which is not behaving I can be 70 beats one min and regular and the next I will be at 190 and in atrial fib and flutter. this is my last chance at a med I have tried all the others I usually end up in the ER two or three times a week. I have had one ablation so far. If anyone else takes it please let me know what it is like. I am starting it on Tuesday.

I've been on Multaq for four months with wonderful results. I also take Crestor for cholesterol. No problems. I did have problems with Vytorin but Crestor works very well. I've no loss of energy or any muscle issues so I guess each person has to find his or her own personal drug combination. Amazing how very different each of is from one person to the next.

After about the 9 day point, i started to feel drugged. I just had 2 AF episodes the first 2 weeks. The third week i just de-stablilized, having events & BP swings. I was moved to Flecainide after that - which could convert effectively in large doses, but i could't make it to the maintenance doses.

I recently went on Multag one week ago, I have had 5 cardioversions that lasted only a couple days, had an ablation for Atrial Fib one year ago, now it is coming back, I have been on Rhythmol and that has helped somewhat, I have not noticed a change in Multag yet, how long does it take to see a difference, I might have to have a double ablation if this doesnt work

I have been on Multaq for 6 months after flecanide stopped working, and I was in afib more often. I take 400 mg 2x per day. I am tired, weak, and with brain fog, but only very occasional afib. now. I read up that Multaq should be taken not only with meals, but that fat allows it to be absorbed in the system better. Maybe those it is not working for don't eat enough fat with it. I also take warfarin, and coreg. I started coreg and multaq together, and have the symptom since taking them of sensations down my arms, and my hands getting icy cold periodically. Also in the last 6 months, 4 fingers are bent at the first joint slightly and progressing. Anyone else with those symptoms?

I just came off Multaq after having been on it for a month. I suffered the usual horrible GI distress, but I want to know if anyone else experienced what I did while on it, which was a SLOWED DOWN metabolsim (I gained weight instead of lost despite the fact I wasn't eating) and, more dangerously, my blood sugar sky-rocketed while on Multaq! I've been off of it for 3 days and still have these side affects.

Julie, I also am gaining weight more than I think I should.on Multaq. I have been on it for 6 months. However, I am eating more fat (ie peanut butter) to try to let the multaq get absorbed. The coreg ( which is replacing prior labetalol) that I was also on for bp seems to control my blood sugar. I am pre diabetic, and used to excercise alot to control the blood sugar, but with the Multaq I became too weak to exercise much, but my blood sugar was still under control. My cardiologist says coreg does help control the blood sugar. However, if you don't have high bp, there would be no need to take it just to control the blood sugar.

I became hyperthyroid on Amiodarone and my doc switched me to Multaq about a month ago. Feeling lethargic, can't exercise as vigorously as before and have gained unnecessary weight. The A-Fib is under control but I feel like crap.

I am starting multaq today but did not take it with my morning meal as it is small. Does anyone know if it matters to take it at noon and then a snack before bedtime?

Hi I have taken this med for 4 days and I do have a bloaty felling but my a-fib is better. I think!! My Doc is calling me sometime this morning. I am scared too as it has some pretty serious side effects but if I can take it and it stops my a-fib then I am all for it.
I have had 3 ablations but I also smoke. I have tried stopping but it is so hard. Anyone else with any problems?

I have been on Multaq since October, 2009. I have had no side effects at all. Before Multaq, I was getting AFib/flutter twice a month; since then, one brief episode. So far, it works for me!

Multaq has been great for me. Doc also has me take magnesium oxide WITH the multaq. Says it enhances the effects of multaq. Anyone else run into this combination????

Hi Deb: I have been on Multaq for 6 months now, and I am having quite a lot of eposides now of AF .. It worked in the beginning. I always thought I could resort to an ablation, but my cardiologist said it would not be safe for someone my age to have it--the valves are too stiff and perforation is a problem! (I am 76). He said anyone over 70 is at risk. That was a shock. I might have to go on another med. The physician's assistant said maybe rhymerol (sp?).

I took Multaq for 5 weeks, after Rythmol SR, and Flecainide failed.I have Atrail Fib. It helped with the Atrial Fib, but I ended up with stomach upset and gastritis. I felt weak, and tired while taking Multaq.
I am having a Cardiac Ablation at the end of the month.
I wish you all the very best, as I know who having Atrial Fib and being on these meds can change your life. May God bless us, all!

Had first a-fib attack in 2003. Was on sotalol for six years. It stopped working and went to Multaq last September and had an ablation in November. I stopped taking Multaq two weeks ago. However, this past week, I have had episodes of dizziness and light headedness. I did not experience this when I was on Multaq. Has anyone else gone through this when coming off Multaq?? Would appreciate any input. Thanks!!

I had constant Afib for 3 months, and then an ablation for atrial flutter. My EP first tried tykosin, but I had a reaction to it. So he tried Multaq and it has been working very well now for 4 months. I don't have any side effects except trouble losing weight. I was losing quite well for several months, but it seems as though the Multaq makes me hungry?

Also--you should quit smoking. It is so bad for your heart. I did it years ago with Nicorette gum. I have a friend who chewed the gum for years afer he quit. It is really not that hard to quit!
