I heat up the liquid in the microwave and it turns to a powder that I snort. You just do a tiny bit. I cannot emphasize that enough -about 80-100mg. My friends and I have done it hundreds of times, I have never "ever" seen our heard of anyone having hallucinations. You have nothing to worry about, it is not addictive. You feel a bit loopy and happy for about 20-30 minutes and it is gone completely. You are completely aware mentally, just plan on lying down and not getting up for 30-40 minutes. Keep in mind this is not a clinical way, more of a street way. It is the cheapest, safest, fastest way that I have found to take it. GL

The patches really seem to help me, however I hate the side effects of dry mouth and blurry vision. Also, this is what my skin looks like after I remove the patch:
zippyshare.com/v/81455960/file.html

I just called Novartis and they were absolutely NO help regarding this, in fact the rep I talked to was downright rude. They kept telling me to talk to my dr and I kept saying my dr doesn't know. Frustrating.

Hi Callie are you wearing the patches continuously or every couple of days? In the study they found that the antidepressant effects would last for a week or more after they switched to the placebo. If you are getting a good result then you may be able to go a few days between watering a patch which would give you some time without the dry mouth and other side effects. I'm not a doctor though so I don't know if that will work or not for you. I wish I could offer you a tip for dealing with the skin problem. Thankfully I haven't run into that. If there is no lasting damage from that then perhaps you could look at it as a trade off for not having depression. Every antidepressant seems to have one or two bad side effects of some sort.

Well it has been bit over a month since I started using the scope patch. So far I think I have been doing well. It has taken me a bit of time to figure out how long to wear it and how much time between doses. I have had my ups and downs but think it is doing me some good. I also take celexa but have weaned that down to 7.5 mg from 20mg. I don't know if I want to completely go off that though since I think that is helping me too. The one thing that I have noticed is that there are times when I am actually happy. Before the best I tended to do was just not depressed. I don't know if this is all placebo of not but I will take it haha. I am now wearing at patch for 24 hours at least every 7 days if not sooner. Like I said I am trying to dial that all in. I would be interested in hearing if other people have found any success with and how they are taking it. Are you using the patch, how long do you wear it and how often?

I'm only wearing one every 2-4 weeks (as-needed). Leaving them on for 3 days at a time.

Hi Michael,

Its not too much info at all. Thank you for your candor. I had the exact same reaction to MAO's. It was awful. Have you continued the Scopolamine and if so how are your symptoms?

Hi everyone,

I am no longer on the patch since I hadn't personally had the lift in mood is seems others had by using it.

I did make it into my consultation with Dr. Sajben and now have ketamine in a nasal delivery. With Dr. Sajben's help, we setting my dose and dosing regimin. The doctors using the infusion have a set criteria for amount of ketamine infused per kilogram of patient's body weight. With the nasal infusion, it seems to be a bit more individualized than that and it appears that the relief is more short lived than the several weeks that I got from the infusion, but it seems to be to be working nonetheless and at a far lower long tem price than an infusion at $1,250.00 every month or so.

More to come...

Let me know if you have any additional questions. I would be happy to answer them.

I'm just so frustrated :( I get about 5 good days out of one patch, then I'm back to depressed and I'm left with a chemical burn/mark on my neck too (I know I already showed you guys). Not to mention each patch is $12. In some ways it's almost worse to feel better and then go back down because you notice the contrast more and because you remember you were feeling good/happy, whereas before it was just always the same and you got used to it. Just venting :(((

I know what you mean Callie. It gets old to be on the mood roller coaster. I checked any both CVS and Walgreens to see if they could get scopolamine in pill form but they both said it was no longer being made. Which is too bad because that may be a better way for you to take it. Maybe someone else has had some luck tracking some pills down?

I also wonder if the patch is giving people a high enough dose. I read the study by Furey and Drivets and I think the iv dose was a higher amount then the patch gives. The patch certainly keeps the drug in your body longer.

I can't express how helpful this thread is.

Do any of you know of online group therapy forums or anything?
I'm just looking for any types of support...and any other advice...as my family is completely unsupportive...and I am now unemployed so I'm struggling to afford any type of help.

Actually my dr gave me an rx for the pill form (0.4mg I think) and it provided no depression relief and caused terrible constipation :(

Hi David,
I suffer from chronic pain including depression. The first time I tried ketamine was in a study in NYC to test the efficacy of the medicine. The study at first was blinded with some general relaxant, which I was positive I received, because the study allowed me after the initial trial to have an open ketamine infusion which had a dramatic effect on me. I then sought out someone who was using ketamine in practice, and I found a clinic in NYC with the head doctor with the ironic name of Dr. Hertz. I went into the hospital for 4 straight days of ketamine with significantly higher doses for a chronic pain protocol. It was a very profound experience and for the first time in many years I experienced moments without pain or depression - a momentary bliss. After years of trying this pill or that procedure, I had found something that went to the heart of the matter. So, of course, Murphy's Law kicked in, there was a complicated insurance snafu, and they denied me coverage, which of course included future infusions. I am currently working with the attorney general's department of my state to provoke them the insurance company to do the right thing. Obviously, we are dealing strictly with the bottom line in this case.

Anyway, I recently located a doctor in New Jersey who does ketamine infusions which costs I believe $400 a pop, and is a protocol at a significantly lower dose and the drip only last for 40 mins. Actually, I am uninsured now, and it is not economically feasible for me to be incurring such large bills, but knowing that ketamine works after exhausting so many other options that didn't over the years, I need this medicine.

I was hoping that we could have a one-to-one chat about our mutual experiences with ketamine if that would be acceptable to you. Let me know through this discussion how we could go about doing that. Oh, and congratulations on starting to piece your life back together, I am working towards that goal as well.

All the best to you,
Mark

Hi John,

I'd be glad to correspond with you but I would like to keep my anonymity on this board. I am sure you understand.

If there is a way that you can think of to exchange contact info anonymously, I would be happy to speak or email to you about my experiences with Dr. Sajben and nasal Ketamine treatment.

Any tech-heads out there have ideas how John and I can exchange info privately while keeping our identities under cover on this board?

All the best,

Michael

I would suggest that everyone interested in the Ketamine treatments open a new thread and contribute their questions and answers there. I know that I would like to hear your experience with the Dr and the nasal treatments, and I'm sure that there are many people how would like to hear the same.

I have scheduled a visit with the Dr. in June. I'd like to know how your experience was. How many days did you visit her? Did you receive the nasal inhaler immediately upon your initial visit? I consulted with her over the phone and she told me to expect to see her Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. All of this is out-of-pocket so I'm a little skeptical since I haven't been treated with antidepressants let alone Ketamine for a while, and I'm also leery of doctors.

Michael, can you provide us with an update on how your treatment is going? How often are you using your nasal inhaler? How does it compare to your infusion experience?

Thanks.

dave

Hi everyone,

On Dave's recommendation, I started a new thread regarding the use of ketamine for depression. I will post the link on this thread as soon as the topic is approved and we can move our discussion there.

Best,

Michael
