Going to start it tomorrow. Anyone else taking it, and if so, how do you like it?

Thanks!

It takes about 6 months for hair loss from topomax to completely come back. And for your hair to start acting normal again. So it might not be your new med.

Good to hear from everyone!!
Cravings....YES
Dreams....YES...very vivid, but not like when on sleep med...couldn't do those.

Laura, like I said had to go back on W. I am feeling pretty good most days...there are some days...not so much...but am happy to find Something that is working!...lol.. You doing ok from all the weather now? Everything in tact where you are?

pcake...that is exactly like I used to feel. Seems most of the side effects go away after time. As long as you are feeling better is what counts

Happy Hump Day!!!

Posting here as suggested. I am 29 and have been dealing with depression since I was 15. I have been on everything with little help. When I was 15 Prozac worked but in my early 20's when I went back on it it didn't work. I hate taking meds and go on and off them depending on how bad symptoms are. I was recently diagnosed with MDD and GAD and was out of work for 8 weeks and had to go back before I found a good Pdoc and meds. The Pdoc I had found dropped me mid crisis. I found a new Pdoc who gave me Viibryd...I am on day 8 and have good days and bad. I had some stomach issues the first 2 days but noticed if I took it with something higher in fat I didn't have symptoms. I also have IBS and it seems to have regulated that. The past 2 days I have been very agitated and angry. I also noticed my sleep cycle has changed and I can't sleep past 6:30 am no matter what time I go to bed. I have has slight headaches and am hoping they will go away. Today I noticed I was very off balance and got dizzy and would see black spots when I would stand up. I actually walked into the wall this morning when I woke up. I took my first 20mg tonight and 30 minutes later the room was spinning and I felt off. I have dealt with vertigo before and this was not the same it was different but I can't explain how. I haven't noticed any cravings or increase in appetite I've actually noticed a decrease in my appetite. I really hope the dizziness, headaches and feeling off goes away. I felt really good last week and then things seemed to go down hill. I'm just concerned with the headaches because I randomly pass out or go unresponsive and the only thing the can come up with are non epileptic seizures caused by migraines. I really don't want to start leaving work by ambulance again. I've read symptoms resolve as you take it but mine seem to be getting worse. Especially the anger and agitation.

Hey Dani. The stomach problems get better with time. I felt a little dizzy when I went from 20Mg to 40Mg so I went back to 20Mg and it's working fine now. I also take Abilify. Hang in there.

Say the doc today and we both agreed to stay on V and if the anger and agitation gets worse then I have to cone off it and we will try Lamictal. She also gave me a prescription for Klonopin but I think that was more because I was in a car accident was shaking for 4 hrs straight and on and off for the rest of the day. Figures I start being less anxious about driving and I get hit. Trying to keep spirits up but knowing the stress and aggravation I am headed for along with the back pain makes for one very unhappy camper.

Greetings!
I have been on Viibryd nowfor over 2 months, on the 40 max for over 1 month. In the last few weeks my hair started to fall out. I thought at 1st I was just losing normal amounts, until I was blow drying my hair upside down and found a PILE of hair on my bathrooom floor disconnected from the root. I cant figure out if its from the med, as I am on nothing else except Xanax, and have never had this reaction from any SSRI. I performed a conditioning treatment and it stopped for now, but if the hair loss continues, Im gonna have to say bye to this med. Its a shame if it is the med, as it is working very well for me.

That is great Chuck!! Happy for you!! I am really happy to have found this med too! Course Well, Viibryd, and Xanax....wish I didn't have to take all that, but I have been waiting for years to be able to drive without being so paniced!! Going to have to start practicing on the HW. I know it won't be an immediate miracle, but I feel that I can actually think about it now without getting sick feeling...lol...!!

Dani, the Klon. should help alot! Keep us updated!!

Megan, hope everything works out! It would be awful to have to stop taking a med that works so well. I know I get on this topic alot on here. But, have you had your thyroid checked? You can read my other posts about it. There are soooo many people these days that are having problems without ever knowing that it could very well be their thyroid. (And normal results don't actually mean normal.) See Stop the Thyroid Madness for more info.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

I have posted my experience so far with Viibryd and rapid hair loss being at 40mg for over one month.
I have had blood work, and there is no other explaination for this rapid hair loss.
I filed an adverse event to the manufacturer and also to the FDA. I encourage anyone who is experiencing hair loss from this drug to do so as well, as it is currrently not listed as a side effect.
This medicine uses a mechanism simular to Buspar, which when looked up, I found hair loss as a side effct of that.

I have been on Viibryd for nearly 3 months and have obtained clinical mood improvement at 20mg. Welbutrin allowed me to lose 10 pounds, but I discontinued it Welbutrin due to insomnia and hand tremor (I am a surgeon). Zoloft reduced these two side effects, but gave me anorgasmia. With Viibryd, I can sleep well, have no tremor and no sexual side effects. I still have diarrhea. Most troubling though is craving for sweets; I have gained 16 pounds in 8 weeks. Still looking for a better solution. I may add a low dose of Welbutrin to reduce appetite. Anyone else have weight gain? Suggestions?

I'm on day 14 and just took the last 20 mg today and so far so good. Its hard to say how much benefit I'm getting since the car accident has brought back a lot of anxiety and stress in regards to driving. Add that to the stress of finding a new car with crappy credit and I feel like I am back to square one. The klon has helped much more then the xanax thankfully and hopefully I can return to work tomorrow. I'm hoping I won't have any increased side effects with the 40mg.

Ed, I haven't up until about the last week gained any weight. I hope it is because I have been eating things I normally don't...like sweets...Do have that craving and I am not a sweet eater. I can just tell my pants are a little tight as they weren't a couple of weeks ago. I have been on this med for over 2 months and haven't had any problem til now. I hope it is my diet and not my thryoid. Am thinking about going back on low carb...I am not going through that weight gain thing again. Finally got my thyroid meds straighted out! But I really think it is because I have added a little here and there of things I don't normally eat. Also, I have never been a breakfast eater, and they say you have to eat with Viibryd...that sucks...especially if you aren't hungry...lol... Hopefully in a few days of doing what I know is right, I will lose it back...since it isn't much and happened so quick I am hoping that it will come off quickly. I just can't take med that make me gain weight!!!...and this med has been awesome for my anxiety and driving!!

Dani, so glad you are feeling better!!!

Dear Is,
Before you give up on Viibryd, consider taking it in the morning without food or just with protein such as eggs. Taking on an empty stomach means about a third of the drug will not be absorbed. You may find that 20 mg is enough for you or that you can take 40 mg without breakfast and still get a therapeutic dose. Also if you find that 20 mg is adequate, you can split the 40 mg pills. The half life of Viibryd is 26 hours and the pill is not coated or extended release. The cost of the 40 mg pill is the same as the 20 mg pill so you will cut your Rx cost in half. Hope this helps. Ed

Was wondering if anyone has had any weird side effects when taking Motrin and Viibryd. I was told to alternate Tylenol and Motrin every 4 hrs to relieve some of the pain from the car accident. I have noticed when I take the Motrin I get really sleepy and it upsets my stomach more. I have never had this reaction to Motrin before. I'm pretty sure it's the Motrin but it could just be all the stress and anxiety dealing with insurance company and finding a new car.

Dani, just thought Id respond to your post. Ive experienced major depression brought on by an unexpected divorce and it seemed as if any medication I had taken was uneffective. Seems as though suddenly I am beginning to feel better as I have finnaly decided to fight this depression. !rst it seems as though I began to feel as though the Vybryd of all medications was beginning to work although it wasnt having a major impact. I began to make myself eat breakfast starting with a bananna, grapes, and a carrot which was a chore but again I made mysef, I quit drinking soft drinks and made myself eat 5 small meals throughout the day. It didnt happen overnight but I can say that I am really starting to feel more energy that the depression zapped from me. My Dr. also added Remeron in combination to the Vibryd which increased my appetite and helped me to sleep better (merely side effects of the meds. Iam feeling at this point that there is hope wher as before I felt none. Depression is so complex. and what works for one is useless for another, however, I think to really overcome it, one has to come to a point where they are prepared to do whatever it takes, sometimes to extremes. My prayer for all of you is that you will overcome your depression and not wimp out or take what seems to be the easy way out. Life can be worth living if you just fight your way through.

Dear Dani,
There are several studies showing increased risk of stomach bleeding when combining SSRI's (Viibryd is in this class) with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID's) such as Motrin. You should take the Motrin with food. If you have any red vomitus, call your physician. Tylenol is very kind to your stomach in comparison to any of the NSAID's. For more info see: hanstenandhorn.com/hh-article12-03.pdf Hope this helps, Ed
