Going to start it tomorrow. Anyone else taking it, and if so, how do you like it?

Thanks!

Well, after three weeks on 40Mg, my anxiety was off the charts. Went to see Dr and he said it was too much Serotonin. Also diagnosed me as bipolar 2...always down, never up. Cut me back to 20Mg Viibryd and 5Mg Abilify. That seems to have done the trick. Anxiety is much better now. Anyone else experiencing similar anxiety caused by a serotonin imbalance?

My problems have gotten sooo much better. I am driving better than I have in years!! I have read that some people have had more anxiety on it though. I stopped taking my Well a couple of days ago just to see how that goes. So far, so good...will see after a couple of weeks. Glad you are feeling better Chuck. This just seems to effect people differently. I am really relaxed and feel great so far!!! Scared to say that...lol... My dreams are weird, but I sleep, though I do wake up during the night.

Hi there,

I don't mean to intrude on your discussion, but I have several small bleeding ulcers (I am currently on Protonix for that) and I started taking Viibryd about 3 weeks ago for major depressive disorder. Has anyone else had any issues with Viibryd and GI disorders? I noticed today that my ulcers are bleeding again...not to be gross or anything. I am going to my GI doc tomorrow..just wanted to know if anyone else had the same issues. Thanks!

BBC,

Viibryd is known for some people having major GI issues when taking it...usually it goes away in a few weeks. Even on the side effects of the med, these issues are described. I haven't had any of those problems, thank the Lord!! But the answer is yes. Chipur forum and the depression forum have many posts that you can read up on. Hope you get to feeling better!!

Laura,

Had to go back on my Well. Gosh, I was waking up with my heart pounding for about a week, and I was really nervous during the day. Took my Well. Saturday and I finally calmed down... I am doing so much better with my anxiety and driving issues....hopefully I will become normal one day...lol

This may be a duplicate (king of) post. I posted earlier, but I have noticed you can't talk about other places to get info in these emails.

BBC,
Yes V is known for GI problems...I haven't had those thank the Lord! Read the side effects. There are many people that are having those problems, but they are clearing up as they go.

Laura,

Had to go back on W...gee...I got so nervous when I went off it...Feeling much better!!

Thanks for your response Laura. I called my doc and she told me to stop Viibryd and she is going to put me on something else. It's really a shame cause Viibryd was really working great! I haven't felt this good mentally in a long time. Back to the drawing board, I guess.

Thanks again,

B

BBC, I have been having some pretty bad acid reflux lately but I can't say whether or not it's because of the V. I've never had any kind of stomach problems like that - other than during my two pregnancies and it cleared up immediately after my two little darlings (lol) quit beating up my g/i system - but so far it's not bad enough to give up the good effects of the V, so I guess I will wait it out for a while longer.

Also, the decrease in dosage WAS a mistake...don't know whose, but I'm taking two of the 20mg tablets until my 40 mg tablets come in the mail. Now I'm REALLY glad that first 30 days was free. = )

Still doing really well. I even have a job offer on the table! Bad part is, I think I'm going to turn it down because the pay is not good enough to put my 4yo in day care and the job itself looks really damn boring. I have another possibility in the works, working 3 evenings a week and graveyards on the weekends at the charity hospital here. PERFECT hours for me, shift differential pay is great, and very little paid child care needed! Please send out good thoughts for me. I REALLY need something good to happen for me. It's been a very long time since something went MY way.
Love to you all.

Thanks for responding, Tiger. I am going to my GI doc this morning, as I don't really think think my GI meds are working all that great. My doctor did say to pay her a visit this upcoming week and she'll put me on something else.

I hope you get the job you want! I don't have kids, but I know that childcare is expensive!

Glad you are doing so well CT!!! That is awesome!! I too am really loving this med. the Wellbutrin, Viibryd, and Xanax seem to be the thing. I drove on the HW a few miles this weekend without losing my mind!!!...lol.. Hopefully I can become halfway normal again one day!!
Prayers are with you!!!

BBC, if it is working so well, maybe you can stay on it until the side effects pass. From reading they seem to pass after about a month...Good luck!!

I accidentally posted as ld yesterday...by the way...lol...

I am on day 3 of 40mg so far. Started at 10mg a couple weeks ago. I have to admit that one of my biggest fears regarding the side effects is weight gain. Any personal experiences with weight gain/loss/stability on Viibryd?

Thanks!

Jen, I don't know about anything but from what I have read on the net. No one has had problems with weight gain...but yes cravings...me too!! But I won't take meds that make me gain weight. I already have thyroid problems. This has been an awesome med for me!! Not so great for everyone...just depends on your body make up I guess. I am totally thrilled...a little scared. Not used to taking something so life altering!!! I am doing things I haven't done in years!! But about the weight gain, if anyone is going to have that problem, it is me. Viibryd has made me have cravings, but no weight gain!!!

Hope you are going well!!

Thanks for your reply! I know just what you mean about cravings- I have them always anyway, so meds that enhance that are not good for me!

How long have you been on the Viibryd? When did you start to notice a change? It's so great to hear that it is helping someone!!

Was on Wellbutrin for a couple of years. All was well. The PDoc said let's try Viibryd. 1st week - yeah Viibryd. 2nd week - food food food....which resulted in the forever fun of weight gain and just how many times can one go to the bathroom in one day.

Okay....long story short - After the 6th week, the only thing I noticed was a bit of libido had returned. But the weight gain was bad for me...8 pounds in 4 weeks, NO Thank you!

Between the weight gain and stomach issues and lack of sleep, and these weird brain zaps going thru my body, I called PDoc and said I want to go back on Wellbutrin.

Lesson here - "if it ain't broke, don't fix it

The worst part, which I am sure everyone here would agree on, is the joy of changing meds. The toll it takes not only on our emotional health, but our significant others is horrible.

I just found this forum. Love it!

Jen, after the first few days of 20mg and then went to 40mg. The only problems I had were kindof like floating on a cloud...weird feeling and dreams (which I still have). Some people have mentioned headaches, guess I had that too...but that is pretty normal, so I don't know if it was from the Viibryd. I actually started noticing a change very quickly. But when I started being able to drive better, that was the best thing!! I also take Wellbutrin, and Xanax for aniety. I tried to go off the Wellbutrin, but I felt like my heart was pounding out of my chest every morning. Was hoping that going off the W. would even make the V work better. I have gone off W many times, just cause I really would rather not take medicine...never had any withdrawals from it, just upset and mean a couple of weeks after going off it....lol.. Soon as I took my W last Saturday, I felt soooo much better. Kind of hate being on 2 antidepressants, but since it works, guess I will keep them both. I really feel great. Been on 40mg for over a month now. Hoping to become normal one day...lol... But I am working on it!!

HappyRedHead, did you stay on your W while taking the V? The W is known to help with cravings and weight gain. Just wondering, maybe both would help you too....

Is- That is so wonderful to hear! that a medication is actually helping someone. (Doesn't seem to happen much!) I know what you mean about being on too many psychotropics at once- it seems that less is more every time.

I really hope that the appetite increase doesn't last. This is really scaring me about the med. I am already huge from my pregnancy and the postpartum isn't helping decrease my weight or appetite. Why do these meds all cause weight gain? It's so frustrating...

The doc said I could stop the Vii immediately as I was very concerned about the "electric shocks" I was having. I had been off the WB for about 6 weeks.

So, in my humble non-doctoral opinion, I confused my brain moreso than it already is. Hence the lightheadedness and dizziness.

The weight loss was almost immediate when I went back on WB. Could have been in my subconscience as well....knowing that WB is good for weight loss and Vii isn't.

Such a catch 22 for many of us. We want to feel better one day at a time....but it takes weeks, months, sometimes years to get there. We see a doctor who spends maybe 30 minutes with us every month or two and expect them to have all the answers. Then we see a therapist who can fix the problems that the Pdoc can't.

In the end, I am grateful I have insurance, grateful to have a good (well, sometimes :) ) job. Am incredibly grateful to not have a husband watching over me and counting my meds. (*note sarcasm here)

Thrilled to be here at this website. I've learned alot already.

Happy Labor Day or as most of us say....yippie a day off with pay!

Be happy where you are on the way to where you are going!

Jen, in all the studies, most people don't gain weight with the V. Of course there are always exceptions. But haven't read that problem in other places I have been talking to people. Hope all works out for you!! It is always hard after having babies...lol..I nursed all mine, and the weight came off quickly. It is really hard for me to lose weight, so I can imagine what you are going through!!

Red, I have heard a lot on another fm of the electric shock feelings. Glad you are feeling better!!! Everyone one is different!!. I just hope my good continues on with this med. I sure don't won't to go backwards...lol.. I am very thankful as well,...the Lord, job, family...ect...INSURANCE...lol.. Also, there are so many with much worse problems, I am just thankful that mine are so minimal comparaitvely. When reading on all these places about these meds, it hurts my soul what some of them are going through!!

Everyone have a great Labor day!! I am taking my dog to the park...Yea!! it isn't raining today!!!!

WOW! It's been a heckuv'a few weeks around here. I live on the coast in NC, and we were slammed by Irene- no power, trees down, no internet...very post-apocalyptic around here. Not to mention the earthquake that I somehow totally missed (no one believes that I seriously didn't feel the ground shake).

I had been cutting my Wellbutrin in half in preparation for totally weaning off of it. At first, I felt better, but after about a week, I knew I needed to go back to the full dosage. Perhaps it was the onset of withdrawal, perhaps not, but I started to get that snowball heading down the mountain feeling. I'm back on the full 300mgs along with 40mgs of Viibryd. I agree, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Although I'd love to be on as little medication as possible, the important thing is maintaining a balance.

As far as side effects go, I haven't noticed any weight loss, but my darn hair is falling out in handfuls. I don't know why. I thought it was the generic topamax, but I've been off that for weeks now and it's still happening. I shed worse than my cats. I'm taking multivitamin supplements including "Hair, Skin, Nails" with extra iron, but I've noticed no change in the rate of shedding. What gives?! I'm shedding like a Christmas tree in July.

I'm also having some issues with blurred vision. I'm due for an eye exam, so I'll have them check the pressure in my eyes then. In the meantime, I'm missing my Netflix Foreign Movie queue as anything with subtitles is completely out. I can't even read the movie descriptions from a few feet away.

I'm also craving anything/everything with carbs...cookies, chips, chocolate. I mean "middle of the night cold sweat for an Oreo" kind of cravings. The best thing I've found is 100 calorie granola bars- they're filling, I can get a small chocolate fix, and I'm getting some fiber. Plus, they're cheap. Yeah for cheap! So Jen, not to worry you honey, but you're not the only one sweating the cravings thing...the last thing in the world I need is to gain any weight. I'm fairly sure the earthquake last week was just me getting out of bed!

Overall, my mood is okay. I'm sleeping better, but I'm having quite a time with strange, vivid nightmares. I do wake rested however, so I can't complain too much.

Chuck, I'm sorry to hear about the bout of anxiety, but I'm glad the combination of V and Abilify is working for you now. I've thought about adding Abilify and going off the Wellbutrin since the W does increase my anxiety levels, but the last time I was on Abilify, I had some fairly serious side effects (although I was taking it with Lamectil). Perhaps Abilify with Viibryd will work better. If this hair loss doesn't slow down, I'll have to try something different, else I'm going to be completely bald.

BBC- I haven't noticed any increased bleeding issues while on Viibryd, but I can see where it could very well be responsible for it. I certainly had a few GI issues during the first few weeks. If you have ulcers, IBS, etc., it's likely you'll see a flair in symptoms initially. As tough as it is, if you can hang in there, I think it's worth it to see if the GI issues pass. It's such a tough call- I guess in the end, it's about which thing negatively impacts your quality of life to a greater degree. Whatever you do, I hope you get some relief. GI stuff is the pits!

Rob- Welcome and good luck! I'm glad to hear you're seeing some improvement already. Please keep us updated.

CagedTiger- These hot flashes are no joke. My hands are warm right now....WARM! No zombie hands. Of course, I could do without the sweating...I'm glowing like a pig! I hope you got that dosage thing straight. Absolutely, you should be on 40mgs, not 20mgs. When Viibry was originally released, the max dosage was 20mgs (5mgs, 10mgs, then 20mgs in the sample pack). They changed that, and I can see why. There's no way 20 would cut it. If the doctor has made a mistake, insist that they not charge you for a second prescription. The pharmacy should be willing to just modify your existing prescription. Good luck hon!

Red- Welcome and a very happy Labor Day to you, too! I'm anxious to hear about your observations and progress, please post anything and everything. I'm dying to know if anyone else is having hair loss issues...this is really driving me nuts!

ls- Congrats on the huge strides! I know what you mean about being an anxious driver, and it SO impacts your quality of life- there's nothing worse than knowing you have to go somewhere, and obsessing about it for hours beforehand. It sounds like things are plugging right along in the right direction, and I couldn't be happier to hear some good news! Keep us updated. Also, do you take any supplements and if so, what do you take?

Happy Labor Day to everyone! Take care of yourselves!

Started Viibryd a little over a week ago. At times, I am feeling a little bit spaced out. Also, can't sleep too well. I am hoping this medication works as I have been on a lot of depression meds. I can definately feel the different with the 20mg of Viibryd. I am not sure if it is too much.
