Updated

I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

I happened upon this site as I was researching side effects of Prolia. My dearest friend was given the Prolia shot 25 days ago...she has been in constant pain since. Severe Jaw pain, teeth pain, eye pain, and extreme loud ringing in her ears....this has been a horrid experience. She is searching answers and has an appt with her Dentist for possible solution to the jaw/teeth pain....the only thing that has taken a slight edge off of the pain has been Tylenol...I'm thinking more research needed on this drug is imperative...

Am having same or had same side effects. Had my 1st injection, 05/02/2013. Trip to ER that nite, pain was so bad. They treated it as a stroke. Had no knowledge of Prolia or side effects. My Dr.'s nurse swore that it could be Prolia. Missed day's work, little better today (05/06/2013). Hope it all over, hope I will not develop all the horrible things others posting on here have had, cannot afford it. Will NOT do it again. Good Luck to you!

For me, fortunately I found this site before agreeing to take the Prolia shot. I went for my annual physical this week. The Dr. commented that my Endo Dr. had prescribed the Prolia inj. He asked how I was doing. I went on to tell him I rejected the injection. He asked why. I told him about this website, and of course he went off telling me I had to be more open minded. The shot is what I need. I said NO, I don't. He said well, only those experiencing the problems are reporting. I said, even ONE reporting was good enough to keep me from the injection. I fully agree with all, this terrible drug should be stopped immediately. Yes, every time I see Blyth Danner, I also question the ad. Good luck to all on recovering, I am one of the lucky ones.

Need to correct my post: The Dr.'s nurse swore it was NOT the Prolia when my husband contacted her.

I have seen many post on here with good results or no side effects at least. So tell any and all Medical Professionals to read all forums. Not this many people could be making this up. I was so disappointed that I had no "support" from any of my Dr.'s staff or ER staff. As far as they know at this point I could have died! The Dr.'s office has you stay for 15 or 20 minutes post-injection. Problem was bad pain and other problems did not start until about 45 min. to 1 hour after.

It has been recommended I start Prolia, I am interested in hearing how you are getting along now and if your treatment has helped. Are you still in the program? Most people who have contributed have horrible stories about the drug and are not happy with it at all.
Thanks

Im going to tell you it is not a good drug, even one of my drs said yesterday that the shot scared him. I have had numerous side effects after my 2nd shot. 24-7 itching and a red rash all over my body, jaw pain, neck pain, one tooth broke completely off on one side! ($500 crown) kidney stone and the list goes on! And I'm one of the lucky ones! Most of the gals on the shot faird worst than me. these things happend to me before I saw the list of side effects of the shot. It is timed released and I still have occasional itching and red spots. it will be one year in Nov since I had the 2nd shot. I hope this helps with your decision about the shot..

Had first Prolia shot mid Sept. last year. I am 54 and in very good health over all. Had history from age 12 of hyperactive thyroid. At age 21 I had radioactive iodine treatment which distorted the gland. I have been on thyroid med since then and have been having my bones tested since I was 40. I have been seeing my Dr. since I was 39. I think the word of him and think he is a good Dr. I took a chance in taking the Prolia since I dont like to take anything that I don't haft to. ( last year my bone test proved that I had dropped below the limit) I have had so many side effects, back pain, shoulder pain, muscular pain, tired and weak.... to much to list. Cramps even sometime in upper stomach. This has all been going on for the past 8 months. I was due to have my second shot 3 weeks ago and decided to go back to my Doctor to talk to him before having another injection. I told him all the systems and told him I felt terrible and didn't know what was going on but it all started after the shot. I told him it could be my thyroid being low since he had lowered my dosage last Aug. Anyway he ran blood work on everything. I called and canceled my appointment for the Prolia shot till I found out what was going on.Got a call back 3 weeks later From his nurse she said that even though my CPK was elevated a little bit that that was not a known side effect from Prolia. When I called her back she said it was my creatine that was elevated which this has to do with your kidneys which could be causing the discomfort in my muscular pain ect. I have never had anything wrong with my kidney and have had perfect checkups and bloodwork in the past so this kinda puzzels me. She did not seem to alarmed but did send my results to my General Doctor so I could re check and follow up. I have prayed and in my heart I know it is this shot that has made me feel all these weird and painful symptoms. I don't want to have another one, and I surly do not till I find out if there is anything else going on here. I would think if he had thought that I might have a issue with my kidneys he would want me to have that checked again before I moved forward, but no, he has already called in the order to have the next one. I am not going to get into it with him because I do see his side of it but it is my body and I know when something is not right. Like I said I am a very heathy 54 year old, work out 4 to 5 times a week, even this has been a struggle depending on the day, some days I feel ok then the hips, back and knee pains show up, and there is just not any rhyme or reason. Everything I have read on here sounds like things I have been dealing with. I have decided to go the natural way. Have anyone had creatine levels elevate. I thought maybe I would have then check for infection when I go back in. Any info would be appreciated so much... I am so tired of feeling terrible

interesting that you have a kidney stone. Had a urinary tract infection (a Prolia side effect); doctor ordered a CT scan and I learned I had one. Nothing in my diet or life style should have caused this. Another of several problems I've had after 4 Prolia shots.

I had my second infusion two days ago. I sleep for a few days--constantly--and then life resumes as if nothing has happened. No other side effects to report. But since I fell 3' last fall and broke my femur completely in half, there is not much I wouldn't tolerate to avoid that level of pain again! I have hollered, yelled, and yelped in pain many times, but never have the screams that came out of me when that femur broke--and when muscles spasmed afterward while I laid on the ground--been uttered by me in my 62 years of life. I am grateful that Prolia injections produce nothing more than mini-hibernations in me and am sorry to hear others experience so much pain and discomfort. Hopefully, they will read my comments and understand that this medication stands between them and pain they cannot begin to imagine.

I am surprised you are using Prolia. Forteo is the drug that builds bone. I am using Forteo since 10 months after the first of 2 injections of Prolia I found myself unable to walk. An MRI showed 3 stress fractures of my right hip and later I was found to have a fracture of the right side of my pelvis.

Just to clarify something , Prolia is nothing like fosomax or actonel. They are bisphosphonates and Prolia is a rank ligand inhibitor which isn't digested through the gut at, which is why it's strange that there are so many complaints about nusea etc

People keep referring to prolia as an infusion... It is not! It is a sub cutaneous injection, infusion is a very different thing.

It is irrelevant that PROLIA is injected (not infused). What's important is that this drug is extremely dangerous with horrid side effects that can destroy human health and turn life into a misery for a very long time. I received my first PROLIA injection on May 24, 2013. Now, almost 2 month later, I continue expriencing terrible side effects that I posted in other subject-related conversations on this website. To sum it up, so far ongoing sleepless nights due to aches and pains in bones and muscles throughout my body, blisters on my legs and tummy that take long time to heal, increased swetting, urinary tract infection, feeling tired all the time and frustrated with this condition that I was put in by the doctor that didn't even mention to me a possibility of any side effects. I'd be interested to hear from anybody who knows for sure as to how long a single PROLIA injection remains active in human's body? Could this drug cause an irreversible damage to human health by attacking immune system?

It remains in the body 9 months then is completely clear. Unfortunate that you have these side effects , they are very very rare. If you look up the clinical trials for prolia it shows side effects to be very minimal. Compared to other options prolia is a fantastic option.

I have posted several times about my prolia side effects and want to know if anyone out there has heard of any lawsuits pending? It has been almost a year since my last shot and I'm still experiencing some of the side effects and I'm begining to think it will never get out of my system.... thanks Pam

Please note the trends being posted. Those having reactions are having severe bone and muscle pain, rashes and itching all over, nausea, exhaustion, lack of balance and poor health in general. The next group has had successful injections at first but after the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. are having severe reactions. A very few have no reaction. Almost forgot, then there is the person who blindly advocates the shot who never had the shot and/or a reaction.

I went from healthy to one who could not wear a bra because of bone pain. My immune system failed. My entire body itched and I had rashes. My muscles were painful. Pain down my lower back was incredible. Because of the weakness/exhaustion my heart began racing from effort to perform chores. I could no longer drive. Ten months later I cannot make it through a day without exhaustion that puts me back in bed. I was used to working long and hard and loving it.

Think about this: If someone were to begin giving Prolia shots to animals to experiment producing the same side effects women are having now, and then marketed the shot at $3000 each, I can assure you PETA would have the story all over the press. The news media and many in the United States would NEVER allow animals to be subjected to this... citing torture and cruelty to animals. What if women soldiers were given Prolia and had adverse reactions? Remember how it made the news when men soldiers were experiment upon?

The news media needs to take a hard look at this drug and the devastating and long lasting effects on humans and who is really benefiting and how much profit is being made.

SHAME ON THOSE WHO PREY ON WOMEN FOR PROFIT.
