Prolia Side Effects (Page 18)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.
4 months after injection, I suddenly developed severe floaters in my right eye. I don't see this in any other responses but know it has happened with fosamax -type of drug (biophosphonates)
I took reclast and felt flu like symptoms so my dr switched me to prolia. I have has no side effects do far. I have had one shot 6 months ago
I had my first Prolia injection June 26, 2013. To date I have experienced severe left hip pain, sleeplessness, muscle aches and an increase in my already bad lower back pain. I was walking 6 days a week and now I am unable to move properly due to hip pain. My teeth began hurting yesterday and the level of pain has me concerned. At 57, I went from feeling good to falling apart.
I am a liver transplant patient and cancer survivor I am more than a little concerned that with an already compromised immune system, I was ok'd for Prolia. After fighting so hard to live I hope this first (and last!) injection of Prolia doesn't lead to my demise. (yes, I feel that bad)
It is 10 weeks now since my PROLIA shot. I am continuing to suffer greatly from horrible side effects of aches and pains in muscles and bones throughout my body, high acidity and indigestion, frequent flushes and sweating alternating with chills. My rib cage is hurting so bad that I can't sleep or lay in bed at night. Three month ago I was a 65 years old healthy and active person diagnosed with osteopenia. I never had any fractures or broken bones and the doctor who suggested this poison for me as a preventative measure is a criminal who should burn in hell along with all others that are pushing PROLIA for monetary gains!
I had prolia 5 weeks have pain in bones daily but not as bad as was, so feeling positive & a lot better
it's not just women suffering now from this stuff, i was diagnoed with osteoporosis at 34, have gone through basically all the drugs allowed on the NHS in britain, and also have "specialists" with very little interest in me or my problems.
so at age 51 i was "allowed" to have this -it's only allowed in britain for women, so the doctor had to get written clearance...wish he hadn't... alll the same side effects, sweats & chills, lack of appetite,/nausea, incredible pain in joints - especially when in bed at the end of the day. it can take an hour or more before i can calm the pain down enough to sleep, even on 14 pain killers a day, and muscle relaxants, hands and feet are the worst, and often in the day a sudden rush of pain, sometime a pulling feeling, making it impossible to do many daily tasks.
sometime it like a cramp but you can't massage it away., often i have a feeling that a bone somewhere is broken. hips and knees have hurt since childhood, but never like this. i used to be able to hide my limp, now i'm happy to walk without falling over, even typing this is killing my wrists, it is just ridiculous!.
and a week ago i started getting a burning feeling in the arch of the foot, like someone putting out a cigarette, this comes and goes regardless if i am sitting, walking, sleeping- wakes me up through the night - that's one side effect i haven't seen here, anyone else have this problem
You sound like you have develpoed "neuropathy" in hands & feet. (That's nerve damage) It is in allof us (the med) now, so we just have to stop having the other doses. Good Luck
Has anyone recovered from the pain after getting the second injection of Prolia? My mom aches all over and it has been 3 months since she had the injection. Do you think that once the Prolia injection leaves her system, she will feel better? We hope that she won't be permanently disabled.
It has been ten months since my second Prolia injection. The pain in my hip, calf and ankle is still severe. I am so sorry that I ever got involved with this evil drug! Please, does anyone know if this pain will go away someday? Tell everyone you know that this drug should be pulled from the market. It is bad bad bad!!!
I have had severe reactions to Boniva and Actonel (as well as other drugs). I've avoided taking prescription drugs, but, like you, my doc says these bad side effects "just don't happen". Maybe they aren't common, but going from healthy to disabled because of a drug that may or may not help... it just isn't worth the risk.
I developed severe back pains after my first shot of Prolia. I told my GP and he was horrified. He said he has just given Prolia to another of his patients and the patient developed severe back pains too.
My GP agrees that I should not have another shot of this drug and will be phoning this other patient to tell him that it is the Prolia that has caused the back pains and apologise to him.
I am just so thankful that my GP is so sympathetic to this. And I am lucky that I have a strong immune system and have no other adverse effects. I am going to continue with weight bearing exercise to keep my bones strong.
It has been 12 weeks now since my Ist PROLIA injection. I am still suffering from terrible pains in bones and muscles throughout my body. I can't sleep at night due to severe pain in legs, hips, rib cage, etc. For the past week I am experiensing additional side effect, i.e. my breasts tissue became very painful to touch -- it hurts so bad thatI can't wear a bra. I am so tired of coping with the terrible condition that PROLIA has caused for me and hope this will go away with time. In the mean time, the drug company shamelessly keeps advertising PROLIA on TV and I feel so sorry for all other women that would end up in great suffering from taking an injection of this poison.
I'm 7 weeks over my first injection & feeling much better, little bone pain but feeling positive..
My doctor ( bone specialist ) just prescribed Prolia 60mg to me, I have a compression fracture of my T12 vertebrae which was the result of an accident in May 2013. He said the Prolia would help strengthen my bones, but reading all these reviews this drug terrifies me, I still have some pain in my back, but to endure what these women are going through, I don't think I should allow this poison in my body. I feel terrible for all of you that are suffering and pray you will get better.
I Think that is a wise choice on your part. It seems we all have had bad effects from this med.Have your MD "find" something else for you !!! Good Luck !
I had my first Prolia injection on June 19th, 2013. On day 10 afterwards I was awakened to severe pain in my ribcage, to the point I could not breathe. Husband took me to the ER. Along with this pain was left arm pain and numbness. I thought I was having a hert attack. In the ER, blood pressure, EKG, and blood work was normal. I mentioned the Prolia injection. The drs called a 1-800 number and was told this was prolbably a reation to my injection. Since that day, I have experienced severe night sweats, shaking, right hip pain, and about 2 hours sleep a night. I am very very mad right now. my DR said she had heard nothing but good things about this drug. I will not get the second injection. She gve me a brochure to read, it told only good things. IF, and I mean IF you are thinking about trying the Prolia injection, please read all the info. research it, and then make your decision. What is the point of getting the shot if it decreases blood calsium? Thats like taking a heart med that causes a heart attck.
The last Subscriber was fortunate that they even told them that Prolia was the cause. When my Husband and/or ER called, they said it was not. Decided I was having a "stroke"! Wanted to send me to downtown Med. Center. I refused knowing it was not. No one has admitted that Prolia was the culprit. It is been 5 months and I am still in all kinds of pain. Seems to attack different things on random basis and attack your previously weakened areas. Too bad there is no "antidote"!
It has been 3 months since my first injection of PROLIA. Unfortunately, I am still suffering with all kinds of pain in bones, muscles and internal organs throughout my body. It seems to attack different parts randomly and repeatedly with various intensity levels. During these attacks, which seem to intensify at night, I don't get any sleep, tossing and turning in bed, sweating profusely, get chills and, my husband is doing everything he can to help me by lightly massaging painful areas. I hope this poison will wear off in time so I could get my life back to normal. This PROLIA injection made my life miserable for the past 3 months and is the worst experience I've ever had in 65 years of my entire life.
Has your doctor considered Forteo? After 2 injections of Prolia I found I had stress fractures of the right hip. I am now on Forteo (to build bone) to try to correct the mess Prolia made of my body.
I have been on PROLIA injections for one year and one half. My symptoms are
such as yours... Muscle pain in legs ,arms and some other body parts. Once I experienced jawbone pain but it dissipated soon since I knew it was part of some side effects , I did not visit our dentist . I am so pleased though to follow my endocrinologist' advice that this PROLIA treatment outweight the consequences otherwise. My bone density cannot be tested accurately, since I have had many joint replacements , so PROLIA is good for another year or so, meaning that we are certain of some interference of bone deteriation not happening. So hang in there friend,it's worth the occasional body pain that we are experiencing... Best to you
