Klonopin And Suboxone

I was recently prescribed suboxone and klonopin. So I was wondering if anyone out there has taken this combo and what thier feelings are on the subject?

Any narcotic including Suboxone mixed with an SSRI can cause Serotonin Syndrome, which I can attest to. I ended up in the ER over it. What's screwed up is I was Rx'd both drugs by the same doc filled by the same pharmacy. Serotonin Syndrome has killed a few people. I googled it and read about a notable case.

I would have saved a couple pills before quitting cold turkey as a rescue dose should your wd's get too rough or if you find yourself sleepless.

I disagree. There are patients with true debilitating anxiety even in suboxone. If you take as prescribed then your on a right path. Yes there is a risk but what medicine doesn’t have risk to some degree. Suboxone dr don’t just easily prescribe these 2 together so I truly believe your dr knows you best and how your treatment plan should be for you. Good luck in your recovery. Always believe

What I don't understand is subs are safer than other opiates with benzodiazepines because of the ceiling at16mg I'm on both almost off benzos on a 2 yr taper my Dr died and needed 1 refill to finish can't find a doctor who will touch my taper I'm out of medicine now I have to resort to sound wrong behaviors u would think a doctor would want to help someone wanting to get off a controlled substance

I'm on suboxone and Klonopin my suggestion would be don't stay on the Klonopin more than one month I've been trying to taper off it for two years incredibly difficult im down to .25 mg and my doctor died I'm having trouble finding another to prescribe and the withdrawals are horrendous any suggestions.....desperate in ny.........hope it helps be careful

I friend died right next to me when we passed out with a house full of ppl. He died because of the suboxone and benzo (xanax). I woke up to him leaning on me back to back. I felt him and he was warm. That was only because I was giving him body heat and i didn't even know that, so I thought he was fine, just really tired. His phone would not stop ringing. Two hours had passed. It was his mom calling by the way. Dang this hurts so bad. So I called his name out and yelled it out. Went up to him and turned him over and he was just blue. I got scared and called the cops. They showed up and pronounced him dead. So yes it will kill you, believe me when I tell you this. I was an opiate addict but could never tell I lived it and done it. So they really do kill you, them two will. Just don't over do it. You know how to take the right way. Never think you can take more than usual. Please be careful. my name is {edited for privacy}.

Mitch what state are u in and who's your doctor I'm on suboxone and been tapering off klonopin my doctor died and I can't find a doctor that prescribed the 2 I'm in recovery the suboxone has taken all the issue with opiates away I new I should not have gotten on a benzodiazepine and for months ive been tapering off but now im withdrawing and am rather desperate.

Hello I just found this forum, and first I wNt to say I have taken Klonopin only 1 mg a day for 20 years for my anxiety disorder. 9 years ago after a csection I became addicted to hydrocodone. Recently I have tapered down to only 1 to 2 a day and have been trying do hard. Anyway I had a friend give me some 5mg Suboxone pills. For a few days I have taken just a little of the pill maybe 1mg of it gets me through the day but after researching it im worried . I was going to go to the doctor to see if they would give me those to stop the hydrocodone addiction. But there is no way I could ever stop the Klonopin. I would rather be addicted to it than go through my monstrous panic attacks. Would these small doses be safe together 1mg Klonopin and 1 maybe 1.5 mg Suboxone? There is no way I could handle more of the Suboxone it makes me feel way to strange. I don't take anything for a high just to feel normal any help is greatly appreciated.

I took a 1mg Klonopin around 9 this morning..it's almost 6 now. Am I'm gonna be okay to take my 2mg of Suboxone??? I'm nervous due to all the hype about mixing them. But figured if I take them far enough apart that it would be okay??

i take them both. My drs keep in touch with each other and are fne with it as long as i take as perctibed. I am on a fairly low dose of klonipin but a good amount of sub. My dr monitors me very well and i am doing great. However xanax is a no no for sure.

This is complete bull... 2 different psychiatrists have had me on subutex and klonopin and then suboxone and klonopin. I have extreme panic disorder and I'm also an ex opioid addict and have been on both meds for over 9yrs so I dunno what scare tactics have been used on you guys but you will not (I repeat will absolutely not) drop dead from being on a benzo while on sub, they just don't like to rx the 2 together because it makes sub feel more like opioids, and to the guy who was throwing up, that was sub not klonopin.

I have been on klonopin for 11yrs and suboxone for 9. In my personal experience the combination will just make me more lethargic than if I was only on 1 of the 2. Since they both can cause drowsiness it's this synergy of the 2 medications that will cause you to be more tired and/or nod off. As long as you're taking the correct dosage rxd then you shouldn't have a problem but if you're like myself and many others who are rxd benzos take more than the usual 2 klonopins a day then you will barely be able to hold your head up. So in all if you just stick to the 2 klonopins a day then you won't have a problem. Good luck with your recovery.

FYI:This is to give a simple fact/ experience, based reply to the person who says, "your doctor won't prescribed anything that will hurt you." That may be true of sober doctors, who always pay attention 2 details/ competent doctors but I've been a pharmacist, for over 25 years. The past 12 years, I'm a supervisor of other licensed pharmacists. THIS IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW. Ask ANY Competent pharmacist, and they will tell you that the Most important part of our jobs is triple checking prescriptions, Especially new 1s, to make sure that LICENSED M.D.s, etc. are Not writing prescriptions without diligently Checking the patient's prescription history. Every week, a minimum of a half dozen times, we see Red flags caused by very busy, often incompetent or stoned Doctors. who , without checking or thinking(often both) as he/she writes a prescription for a patient Without checking the patient's most updated information. *My primary care physician of over 21 years, agreed & admits it's an epidemic problem, that frequently causes a high risk of disaster. 1 of the most common examples, are people with a background of serious heart trouble. . Then some inattentive Dr. writes them, without thinking, a high dose of Viagra or more powerful E-D medications. That combined with their complete medical history, likely will give them a stroke or heart attack. *When this type of situation happens, we call the Dr. to inform them & most of the time they immediately Adjust the prescription. * MOST (not all) of us are raised to respect & Not question doctors, lawyers or cops. I was raised by a R.N. & a dentist/ oral surgeon, and they warned me. I found out in my school of pharmacy @ a well known east coast University, how right my parents were.* Google/ search for the number of deaths caused by Dr. prescribed medIcines. What I just described Or the money in "out of court" settlements that Dr.'s insurance companies pay out every year for Flat out negligence/ incompetence. THE ISSUE HERE IS WHEN CHOOSING A DOCTOR OR PHARMACY, TAKE A LITTLE TIME & RESEARCH A DOCTOR, LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT, BECAUSE IT DOES. * The Good news is there are Great doctors readily taking new patients. *My personal primary care doctor(who for over 20 years has been the head of the cardiology department) will freely admit that the number of incompetent and/ or drug addicted physicians, is flat out Scary! That's why "Malpractice insurance" is so incredibly expensive! * Do your research. Do not "Choose" the 1st Dr. who will take your insurance. Every state has a medical/ dental Free service, that will give you the background & past actions for & against doctors. ( State Bar Associations have the same public records for licensed lawyers.) * A small amount of internet research could save your life or a loved one's life. BE YOUR OWN PERSONAL "Watchdog". This is correct ONLY if you are taking as prescribed and are honest about EVERYTHING & how much you are taking. I do take both by prescription for severe panic disorder & major anxiety. I have to be able to be clearheaded because I am a caregiver. I have not used self medicated or taken non-prescribed drugs for 10 years by the grace of God. I tried going without any meds for i whole year, and I basically couldn't function, so i take what helps me live a normal life. I'm never drowsy, but using opiates for 20 years takes a toll on the brain. I so wish I never tried opiates!
