Baarb, since you have the ingredients, go to a compounding pharmacist to have the BGO ointment made.

Well here I was thinking I was the ONLY person out here looking for BGO! Why hasnt a company picked up the rights for this miracle salve??? I have about 1/2 jar left that has traveled with me in my life that is about 45 years old!! It still is perfectly fine. I have tried tons of salves, oral presp. meds and old wifes tales etc. for my cold sores to no avail. One day i dared to put BGO on the sore thnking it would burn or irritate. WHAT a suprise it was. The BGO used overnite had almost dried up the cold sore and left it feeling moisterized without that nasty cracking that goes along with a cold sore. So- I guess I'll have to put my lil white jar under lock and key!!!

I am ordering the ointment that will be compounded with the same ingredients as BGO. I have to purhcase this in large quantites.

Did you ever get BGO or have you found an alternative ? My grandmother used it on all my chiggers , bug bites, and scrapes. I am 62 and I need some for my grandchild ! Thanks . Kathy

I bought BGO Ointment back many years ago at the Shaw drugstore there in Greenville S.C. on Poinsett Hwy. The store is now closed but it could of been a Rexall Drug back then. Rexall drugs are still in operation but I believe they to operate under another name. The product is an antiseptic/Antifungal Ointment used for many things. I to would like to find this item.

I have the ingredient's for the BGO. It contains: Iodoform, Salicylic Acid, Sulphur (precipitated), Zinc Oxide, 1% Phenol (liqui-fied, Calamine, Menthol, Petrolatum, Lanolin and Mineral oil, with 1% Undecylenic acid in a net wt. 7/8 oz white container. Distributed by Calotabs Co. Inc. Greenville, S. C. 29602. Let me know what you find out because I still keep trying to find this item.
