Adderal "is" amphetamine so if the patient is taking Adderal , they should give a positive result for amphetamines. In addition since amphetamine (Adderal) is very similiar structurally to methamphetamine, with some test kits the amphetamine cross reacts and will cause a positive test result for methamphetamine. In this case since no actual amphetamine is present this is termed a false positive.
I would not expect to see a positive for methamphetamine due to amphetamine cross reactivity along with a negative amphetamine test.

CPS has too much power. What you need to do is run an ad on CPS involved grandparents and parents and file a CLASS ACTION law suit against them. They have to justify their jobs. So we have to be smarter and more aggressive with them. DO NOT ALLOW THEM IN YOUR HOME EVER! Let them get a court order. But we all have to stick together otherwise you will suffer without any support. And so will the children. They will be abused sexually, verbally, and mentally from some of these SO called foster parents that are only looking for money.

Some of the "screening " tests done in the doctors office will give a positive result for methamphetamines when the patient is taking Adderal which is amphetamine. Further testing by a more sophisticated test system in a toxicology laboratory can seperate these two and determine whether methamphetamine was actually present or if the signal was a false positive due to cross reactivity with amphetamine. Physicians Desk Reference under adderall indicates possibility of cross reactivity

I adopted my 3 grandchildren 3 yrs ago. Parents called cps who urine tested me today. Showed them my perscriotion bottle of adderall. Urine test came back positive for amphetimine and meth! Cps took my 3 grandchildren.

Yes and cps took my baby oct 16th..im trying to prove my innocence.judge wont lookvat evidence. nurse has everyone beleiving her rapid urine test is better than the lab..the hosp did test same day and sent off to lab..only pos for my rx meds.had hair test too..judge says in need professional to testify...cps refused to send it off to lab..still fighting for my baby to come home..please help

A routine way to address this issue is to have the provider of the drug test contact your pharmacy.....I take this medication and the situation was cleared promptly.

I was recently prescribed Adderall and have tested positive for cocaine. I never used cocaine in my life. I experimented by NOT taking the Adderall and tested NEGATIVE for both AMPHETAMINES AND COCAINE. I'm not going to take the adderall anymore. ..even though it did help me focus. I'd rather be a little distracted than test positive for cocaine!

Nope, because of the bioavailability of these drugs, some unchanged amphetamine (Adderall) and some unchanged methamphetamine (meth) would be passed through the urine, and since there isn't any methamphetamine in Adderall, they would know you weren't on meth.

Yes i tested positive for amphetamine because of the zantac i was taking for my acid reflux it has resulted in them removing my children and newborn baby from me it's only been 4 days i have been fighting DCFS to get them back in my home but hardly any investigation or action done on their part. I suggest if you are submitted to any drug test you let them know beforehand if you are taking anything even over the counter short term stuff. I'm glad i did otherwise i would have no proof but I'm still fighting DCFS because by the time i found out what it was that caused the false positive it was too late they already started an investigation on me. Everything will eventually check out for me but who knows how long it's gonna take the state to complete their bogus investigation and let my children come home, it's a horrible thing to be blamed for something you don't do. My kids are in more danger now than they ere with me it's ridiculous and not to mention a definate lawsuit since the hospital knew from me telling them that i take high dosage 300mg zantac two 150mg pills at a time twice daily from over the counter as advised by a previous doctor since 2009. Since my insurance didnt cover a stronger more expensive pill.

If you were taking Sandoz/Eon generic the cause is a "bioequivalent" ingredient they use. No other generic will cause this. Unfortunately it isn't really a "false positive" it is positive because of what they put in that particular brand. No one in authority has yet tied in the Sandoz/Eon brand only so they aren't looking in the correct place.

the reason you tested positive for meth is because meth breaks down into amphetamine when introduced into the body. the meth molecule just allows the amphetamine to pass through the blood brain barrier quicker, so if you inject it or smoke it you get a rush, otherwise, meth and adderall are essentially the same thing

About 5 years ago I took a 5 panel drug test for a job. I gave them my prescriptions, one which was Adderall XR. I tested positive for meth. It is your right that you can contact another company to do a gc/ ms test on the same sample. I think the original company has to keep the sample for maybe a year. You have to pay out of pocket, probably btw. 100 and 200 dollars. If it comes back clear, the employer will probably reimburse you. When I called the original company to have them send it out to the gcms testing company, they said, "oh, that never happens with addrall and methamphetamine. In the years I've been doing this I've never seen it come out differently using gcms. Are you sure somebody couldn't have slipped you something?" Well, I had it done, and it came back fine, no methamphetamine, and I got a refund and the job.

I have to take random hair test and sometimes urine court ordered. I have taken adderall 30mg twice a day for years, my last hair test showed positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, but i took a urine test about a month ago and it just showed positive for amphetamine. Would be great if i could get explanation on that.

Yes it can. It happened to me. Which resulted in cps removing my 2 children from my home for a month while they called my Dr. and checked medical records. I throw away my empty bottles after scratching the labels off I also made the mistake of shredding the papers that I get with my prescription. So no proof of a prescription for adderall on hand they really will mistake you for a meth user.. just make sure you have a pill bottle or something with your name on it to prove its not meth. It's best just tell them befor hand even if the prescription was not yours cause if u hide the fact that you took the pills they will definatly think u are a methhead.

Yes, Adderall has been known to cause a false positive for Methamphetamines on drug tests and it is actually noted in the PDR drug reference information for physicians.
