2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 40)

Updated

My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.

holly-yes i am just in a bad spot cannot afford to keep paying money for dr's. im disabled and my hearing isnt for 4 months so the insurance i have pays very little but the doctor from the start didnt care and because i came from a shut down clinic-he said no roxies, no dilaudid, period. i can have percocet10 325, oxycontin, morphine, methadone.
ive had them all and i told him what works for me and i use to get 4 80's a day the old "working" formula. i get mine to work by cutting into half and dissolve it in lemon juice or emergency vitamix and will liquift the time release making a nice instant working dose. But im working on trying to save money for new dr but need him for ssi, so im kinda at his mercy and even though im legit, he dont care. and i dunno what to do anymore. im resorting to having to buy from people on street and am scared of getting caught its really messed up the govt, dea and whoever is doin this to us all.

@savage , sorry to hear this ! i feel the inability to get legit rx filled is causing crime, if you are seeing an ssi doc, he will not give you oxycodone rx, you may be able to gert dialaudid at 2 mg, but pain clinics dont take medicaid, so since u are paying outrageous prices on the street, why not apply that money towards a legit pain doctor who can perscribe? ( i know, cuz you wont be able to fill the rx,right? ) what area r u in? if you;d like to pvt message me xxxxx@xxx {edited for privacy}

@ holly, I've been filling opana in the next county from mine. they're all lairs. Its about 15 miles from my home. I also only get the ir's, no er's. I don't believe a word any of them say @ this point. I've also said before, this pharmacy told me no dilaudid or oxycodone either, won't fill that for me. I feel the same way, lethargic all the time, and 10 mg ir of opana only equals 20 mg of roxycodone ir. I have appt on Friday, and I'm already down to only a few nc I've had severe pain the last few wks. Now, I've been waking up with severe leg cramps and restless leg syndrome. I will talk about that at appt. I know the dr would give 1 more a day of I asked, but I bet the pharmacist won't fill 180. I'm sick of it all. I also have vomited almost every night bc the opana makes me extremely nauseated. Having gastric bypass on top of all this is the nightmare from he*l. I was fine for 7 months until they started this bs of not being able to fill roxycodone. Idk what the answer is. I asked the dr, and je said some patients can still get it filled. When I'm waiting to be seen, 50% of them are nodding and whacked out. It makes me furious. Now, they're sending out urine everyo month @ 1500, of which I have to pay 400 of with insurance. Between office visit, meds and urine, it's costing about 600 a month. Something is very wrong with the system. I'm ready to just suffer, bc I'm sick of this nightmare.

American Pain: The Largest U.S. Pill Mill's Rise and Fall

In the spring of 2010, the George brothers were the target of Operation Oxy Alley. Local and federal cops raided their businesses, confiscated their opioids, and seized millions of dollars of assets, including safes full of cash stashed away in their mom’s attic, according to prosecutors. In August 2011 the Department of Justice unsealed a five-count indictment outlining a range of charges, from racketeering to possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, against 32 individuals, including 13 doctors and one wholesaler involved with the Georges’ clinics. From 2008 to 2010, according to the federal agents, the George twins were the largest illegal dispensers of oxycodone in the U.S.

According to prosecutors, the twins’ pain clinics, over their two-year run, sold 20 million oxycodone pills and brought in $40 million.

It was common for physicians at American Pain to see 100 patients a day, he says. At that rate a doctor would earn roughly $37,500 a week—or $1.95 million a year.

@panicnpain i have vomited on opana 20 mg. Just a smal amt of codein will releave rrestless leg syndrome ( could be physical withdrawal with how you've cut back so much, and the opanas passed thru my tract without digesting and when i was able to digest it, the effects were small 20mg i thought would be stronger. If your doc trusts you, you can ask if they can make urine less freq to avoid the fees-- is the clinic a nice one, or does it have alot of weirdos? maybe you should consider changing to a better one or if you are adjusting to the dropped down level, your regular doc can write it? hope you are having a decent day.

@savage you can switch your primary there;s other docs that do ssi, It's just you can't expect a regular doc to prescribe chronic pain meds dosage--they always refer you to a pain clinic.

Purdue is your real enemy.
Google Purdue n Dea, Purdue N LEEDA- FBI, Purdue n Naddi, Purdue n FDA and lord who knows who else is enterwined with them. They are creating a monopoly of the opiate market. Before these little roxies got so popular oxycontin was the fav of druggies until their reformulation came out. Since then Purdue has been calling the shots on everything. Research who their employees are and you find agents from all these federal agencies now working for Purdue making double the salaries they made before working only the agencies.
They are all working against pain patients and not helping them. They want patients to think they are helping them, but are they? Really? They are having good doctors shut down because they are NOT rxing enough oxycontin. This company was criminal for lying to doctors in 07 and now they are paying off these agencies including the FDA. Big money, Big Pharma is harming pain patients. Google and see for yourself who all they are funding. They make themselves look like the good guy but that is very wrong. They don't want their patent to run out so they asked for an extention to research oxycontin on children ages 6 -16 to have enough time to obtain an extra 1 and half billion more dollars. Do you think in a so called epidemic that studies on children should be done? For what? All in name of money. Follow the money and you will see why pain medicines are not flowing to those who need them. They will probably return flowing again but they will be PURDUE brand. I find all this very fishy. They also don't want generic meds to be available, only their reformulated Er med. Their old patent is running out in April 2013. I guess we'll see what happens then. Honestly? OP brand is and the new opana is lousy for pain for real pain patients. But everyone should watch for any bills in congress that indicates the sale of removing generic pain meds and stop them by telling your insurance companies to fight against high dollar name brand meds only. This is the goals they want people. They want only Purdue and Endo to be despensed. After Endo collapsed last Feb. I have reason to believe that Purdue bailed them out. Why else would opana get the same timerx patent on their reformulated med? That is the exact ingredint Purdue uses.
There's a conspiracy going on.

HollyWeird,

Got a question!!! How can I find out if my doctor ias on a blacklist??? I was getting my methadone and morphine 30 ir's filled at walgreens for about 2 years, and then my doc switched me from morphine to dilaudid 4mgs and the pharmacy (walgreens) wont fill any of them anymore, they give me some BS answer. But one said OH your doctor is under investigation..

Could you message me and let me know how I can find out if he really is???

I called the DEA and complained to them, and they supervisor said I could use her name when I went to fill, but who knows maybe she was just BS'ing me too.

thanks

the email address u sent got edited for privacy, but you can ask your doctor, i asked mine he said no, i think the pharmacist is "uncomfortable" of filling your rx, i asked one that was "uncomfortable:" to fill mine, if the doctor was blacklisted and she said, no, but based on the information you gave me, i dont feel comfortable blah blah ----i asked if she wants my records, she said no! that pharmacist told me it's up to each individual pharmacist to deny your rx, thats bull. if they are uncomfortable, why not call the doctor and verify the rx?, what is it, do i have the wrong look or something? let me know how the dea rep's ok goes, i dont know what to do except take a vacation out of the state.v.dcxxaty

Thanks for taking the time to post this informative info.the opana I've gotten for 5 month's now, is produced by roxane. It's a generic for opana 10mg ir. I have a good relationship ship with the pain center, and he asks me if I want to switch back to the oxycodone 30 mg ir. I say my pain and stomach problems would so much better than with the opana. I just know I'll never be able to fill the roxycodone. I shouldn't be complaining, bc I know many of you can't fill anything. I know I can fill
Opana, I hope, and like it's been said, I too believe it's a conspiracy, and we legit cpp are paying the piper. God bless, I'm glad I have this place to converse with others in the same sad situation. God bless and take care.

Because they are as close to synthetic heroin as possible. They are killing our children(my brother o.d. last week). Walgreens cvs any other pharm are going to get sued if they dont stop. If your husband or anyone else is in that much pain they should be bed ridden in a hospital or at home. This country is a joke and so are you crackheads.

You all sound like a bunch of addicts crying because they cant get their fix. Your pain is in your head. Im so hurt but I can drive three days looking for them really. Evrybody has been in an accident evrybody has back problems thats why this problem is a pandemic and out of control. If you never shoot another oxy again youll find something else to shove in your veins wont you. I dont care how much pain yourbin your still alive which is more then I fan say for my dead brother. UNDERSTAND OR NO email me and ill explain it to you further if your still selfish and confused.

@shameus...You are VERY inconsiderate!!! Most of us on this forum would NEVER want to take a pill again if we had a choice...BUT...you wouldn't understand if you are not in Chronic pain like all of us!!! We don't take medicatin because we WANT to...we take it because we HAVE to, to have a somewhat decent way of life!!! It would be like a heart patient..or a diabetic. They HAVE to take medicine to keep going/living their life...well..that's what we have to do. Do you think I like having to take 7 prescriptions a day at 32 years old?? Cause I don't!! I HATE it!! I have NEVER abused Any med. Never shared my meds. Never ran out of my meds early. So before U go running your mouth because YOUR brother abused meds and Od'ed...maybe you should understand that addiction is a disease. And NOT All of us have that disease. Sorry for your loss...but you really shouldn't talk the way you did about US!!!

Husband's Dr. in PINELLAS said today that pharmacies are to sell only 5% Narcotics. I don't know when this is suppose to start, or if this is monthly? yearly? weekly? but it makes sense with all the problems filling the scripts.

WHY ARE YOU EVEN ON HERE? MAYBE YOU SHOULD SEEK PSYCHIATRIC HELP. OR BETTER YET, VOLUNTEER YOUR SERVICES TO HELP DRUG ADDICTS. FOR THE CPP, I SUGGEST WE IGNORE THE POOR IGNORANT SHAMEUS FROM NOW ON (ALL THOUGH I'M SURE, LIKE ME YOU MAY HAVE TO PUT IN YOUR 15 CENTS!) BTW, I HAVE YET TO SEE SOME ONE HERE REFERENCE "CRAMMING STUFF INTO THIER VEINS! SHAME ON _YOU _ "SHAMEUS "
