is it safe to take an expired persciption of the above medicine? from 2007 ## When it comes to any medication I think it is best to not take any chances with the past expiration date (especially in the event that it is almost 5 years old). They MAY still be ok to take if they haven't been exposed to a high amount of heat or various other conditions outside of the bottle, however I am not a pharmacist or MD, so I cannot guarantee if it is in fact safe for you to consume. There is still a high likelihood that it lost a lot of its potency and may be ineffective to the point where it could harm your body by not doing it's job all the way, per say. I have what I think were some type spider or some other type of insect bites 5 of them, they sort of look like a Brown Recluse bite, but not as bad. They turned into ugly open sores within a few hours, just like a Brown Recluse Spider bite would do. The doctor says the it now looks like cellulitis, that's a skin infection below the outer skin layers. So the bites went deep into the hypodermis skin layers .My doctor gave me some other type of antibiotic for 10 days 2000 mg a day. Is there any difference between sulfameth/tmp ds tab and Sulfameth Tmp ss Tab? If so what are they What does the extention ds versus ss mean anyway? ## The DS stands for double strength, because it has double the amount of the active ingredients as was in the original formula. However, the only thing I am aware of concerning prescriptions that use SS is a sliding scale, meaning the dosage is half or less than the original, so I am not sure if that's what this means, or not.
