My mother has some penicillin VK left from a previous dental infection in 2005, is it safe for her to use now? It is too old to be effective. As pills age, the active ingredients start to break down and as time passes, you will get less and less of an effective dosage.

White, Oval, number 521 The marking is actually intended to be an S21 and yes, it does contain 500mgs of Penicillin VK an antibiotic.
Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, skin rash and diarrhea.
