But my pill looks completely different from what I've had in the past and is different from the descriptions I can find on what it should look like. Pantoprazole 40 mg 8 weeks still in pain Filed in PantoprazoleHello, I was prescribed pantoprazole 40 mg to help with my stomach pain. The medicine did make the pain leave. However, after the 8 week course my doctor reduced the dose to 20 mg and told me only to take it when necessary. I was taking 20 mg for only two days before my symptoms returned and I was forced to return to 40mg.
