I have been taking branded COZAAR for several years. Recently, my GP switched me over to generic version of Losartan Potassium. The side effects I am experiencing is unbearable. Where or who should I write to restore my medication to the Branded one? ## If it is your doctor that is writing the prescription for the generic, then that is who you will have to speak to and ask them to write it for the brand, instead. There is a place on the prescription where he can right or check off the phrase 'brand medically necessary.' and then that is what the pharmacy has to dispense. There can be some variations from the name brand to the generic, since the FDA does allow a difference, in the active ingredient, of up to plus or minus 20%, which they consider an acceptable therapeutic window....

i accidentally took amlodipine besylate 10mg(usually am) along with losartan potassium 50mg(usually pm). Will this cause a problem for me? ## Did you contact your doctor? Did you experience any problems? There aren't any dangerous interactions that I can find listed, these medications are often prescribed together to help control high blood pressure and/or treat certain cardiac conditions. However, taking them at the same time could result in some hypotension, which may make you dizzy and drowsy. If it's very severe, you may need to seek medical attention.

My MD recently lowered my atenolol to 25 mg daily and losartan 25 mg daily, but added Lipitor 1 hs. due to my dizziness and lightheadness. pressure seems fine, but still feeling dizzy, can I take both all 3 at bedtime ## Why was the Lipitor added? The FDA classifies it as a statin medication that is used to lower cholesterol. It is very well known to cause side effects, such as dizziness, nausea, headache and joint/muscle aches, so it's very doubtful that it will improve anything. Generally, it is best to take the blood pressure medications, Lisinopril and Losartan in the morning, so they can help control your blood pressure during the times of day you'll be most active. The Lipitor, however, can be taken any time, unless your doctor specifies otherwise. ## sorry my question was...

Can I take these two with cozaar. Do they have serious side effects? ## Hi Susan, Based on my research there are no drug interactions found between any of the three medications you mentioned. This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist, but my sources state that every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is accurate. There are however food related interactions with Cozaar. Information that I've gathered states the following: "GENERALLY AVOID: Moderate-to-high dietary intake of potassium, especially salt substitutes, may increase the risk of hyperkalemia in some patients who are using angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs). ARBs can promote hyperkalemia through inhibition of angiotensin II-induced aldosterone secretion. Patients with diabetes, he...

anyone else taking 50 mg cozaar and 50 mg atenolol and feeling lightheaded and dizzy when standing up from sitting position ## These medications have been known to cause orthostatic hypotension in some people that take them, as a side effect. Other possible side effects may include nausea, headache, dizziness, increased urination and hypotension. How long have you been taking them? Most side effects are transient and will improve after about 4 to 6 weeks, once your body gets used to the medications. Have you informed your doctor? It would be best to have this symptom checked out, to be safe.

I have a patient, my wife, whom I personally take good care at home. She has liver cancer. The following medicine are administered to her as maintenance: Neobloc tablet 50mg, omempron capsule 20mg, aldactone tablet 50mg, cozaar tablet 50mg, lantus and humalog insulin. Now, I want to know the functions/purpose of above mentioned medicines. Thank you very much. ## Sorry to hear about your wife. I hope that she may find some relief. Neobloc contains the active ingredient Metoprolol which is used mainly to treat high blood pressure. Omepron contains the active ingredient Omeprazole which is used to treat stomach conditions such as peptic ulcers, gerd, etc. It basically helps to inhibit the amount of stomach acid produced. Aldactone is used to help treat heart failure and blood pressure. Coz...

I started Cozaar 2 months ago and am having excessive thirst, muscle aches, burning and tingling in my body. Has any one else experienced this. Please help!! ## It could be that this just isn't the right medication for you to take and you may need to try something else. After suffering CHF, it took quite awhile, before we found ones that I could take that didn't make me miserable with side effects. It's really just a matter of trial and error. Have you consulted your doctor about the problem? ## Thank you so much for your reply. I have spoke with my doc and we are going to try something else.

How long have you been taking it? Some side effects take about 4 to 5 weeks to improve, after your body gets used to the medication. Why did they change your medication?

Had been taking Cozaar 100 mg, which had my bp under control (ranging from 115/78 to 128/82). Also started back at the gym 2 1/2 months ago. Now up to regular cardio routine totalling 150 mins/ week. No shortness of breath or other problems. I asked the doc if I could step down to Cozaar 50 mg, as the 100 mg was making me feel like my heart ached from time to time. Doc changed to 50 mg Cozaar, but added Metorolol XL 25 mg. First day, I had a bad reaction: dizziness, disoriented. 2 days later, still didn't feel right. Took my bp and it was 150/87 and continued to rise. Went to the ER. They told me I was having a panic attack. Doc ordered a dobutamine stress echo test. Have had mild chest pain and some shortness of breath at the gym on exertion. Passed with flying colors. But bp has r...

How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem you've experienced. Generally, edema can be a side effect risk from all cardiac and blood pressure medications. As reported by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and increased urination. You just kind of have to try various ones, until you find which ones work for you, without causing such unwanted side effects. I'm on lopressor and cozaar, is safe to takethem at the same together, lopressor is 50mgs and cozaar is 50mgs ## Hello, Katrina! How are you? Yes, you can take them together, or a couple hours apart, unless your doctor specifics otherwise. When multiple blood pressure and cardiac medicines are prescribed, most doctors do instruct them to be taken together, that way it's easier for someone to remember to take them, so they don't miss any doses. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?
