I have only been taking citalopram 2 weeks now. My Dr. had me on 10mg for 1 week and then upgraded me to 20mg for the 2nd week. It makes me more nervous and edgy than my anxiety and situational depression does. I stopped taking it for one day yesterday and felt so much better. Can I stop cold turkey after only 2 weeks? ## After such a short period of time, you may experience some mild effects if you stop taking it abruptly, but probably will not have any serious problems. this site is not medical professionals though, so you should consult with your doctor to be safe, there are other medications you can try. These types of medications do causes these side effects in some people. I had a similar issue once, when a doctor had me try wellbutrin (Zyban) to stop smoking. Other common side ef...

I have been on .5 xanax twice a day for the last 3 or 4 months. I took my last dose 2 days ago and only took .5 for the day. I was afraid of getting addicted after all the horror stories. I don't feel sick but my eyes feel weird and my head feels funny and my lips feel numb. Is it dangerous for me to just quit? Should I go get my refill? I don't wanna be hooked on something. ## Well. you weren't on it for a really long period of time,, however, it is normal to experience some withdrawal symptoms. Have you spoken to your doctor about stopping this medication? You may also experience: chills, nausea and diarrhea. I have been on norco 10-325 for 5 years and take 2 to 5 per day. What would be a good schedule to us to taper off and quit using it. I have heard that cold turkey may not be the best way to do it. ## Hello, Steve! How are you? Cold turkey could result in your experiencing withdrawal symptoms, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, fever, chills, depression, anxiety and rebound pain, so yes, a slow taper is best. There's no specific taper schedule that always works for everyone, however, in most cases, the preferred method is to have someone starting spacing their doses farther apart, while gradually taking less and less, usually a change is made every week or two. Have you consulted your doctor? They should be able to help you set up an appropriate an...

Hi, I ran out of prescription, can't get to my doc to get a new one and have no tablets left = Cold Turkey on the Pristiq I was hoping to come off soon anyway. I know about the brain zaps, nausea and other weirdness, but was wondering if I am possibly doing myself any other damage? ## FYI - I was on the 200mg for about 6 or 7 months, and on Pristiq for over 18 months all up. Feeling pretty shaky right now... ## More fyi. This is awful :( Crazy night sweats are the least disruptive. I feel like my brain is resetting itself mid thought, but I still have that seventh sense of mindsight, watching it happen, so it's helping me not freak out that my brain us breaking. Help? Hiya - hope no one minds me sharing. Can we skip the advice re: cold turkey versus tapering? I needed more than I can express, to be back in control of my life and pronto. So I've been on prozac for 15 years and recently over the last four years, citalopram, 40 mg down to 20 mg within the past two years. I am no longer sure if my genuine, underlying emotional situation is causing my effects, or if it's down to citalopram. I have all the typical symptoms - no libido, weight gain, tearful, hopeless, etc. That's while I'm on it. So is it me or is it the medication? Well, I'm off it now so we'll see. But i know for sure I'd rather have a tough withdrawal with symptoms I can apportion to the withdrawal journey, than continue on a weird false fog. I have brain zaps...

I've been on clonazepam .5 mg a day for about 10 years for panic attacks. My dr will not refill my rx because I take marijuana. So I was forced to stop cold turkey and am worried about withdrawal. I am having a little trouble sleeping, restless legs, my vision is blurry, weird headaches and sudden feeling of falling/dizziness. Is this all related? Could it be something else? And how can they make me stop cold turkey? What else can I experience/expect? Please help. ## Hello, Sassy! How are you? I'm sorry about the way you're feeling. Yes, those all sound like they may be from withdrawal. As listed by the FDA, stopping a benzodiazepine cold turkey also creates the risk of seizures, so please be careful. As to making you stop cold turkey, yes, they certainly can. No doctor is o...

Apart from work I don't drink at work .. So a drink problem I'd say denial of actually being alcoholic.. Functional parent and holding it all together also always up for a good time with friends and always a fridge full of booze!! Tried it all with my 35 year drug habit.Suffered a lot only to benefit drug companies greed.Im on my fourth day of recovery using cold turkey method and i feel more freedom now than i did after months of champix, nasel inhalers, gum and e cigs. There's two reasons for this.. 1 Because i no longer have nicotine in my body 2 Because i re educated myself from non profit making sources that told me the truth about nicotine. Knowledge is the key! Don't take nrt. The only conceivable reason to give an addict the substance he is addicted to would be to keep him hooked whether it be gum patches e ciggie or any type of nicotine. Would you give an alcoholic alcohol to help him recover?? Addicts make for very reliable consumers. Its almost like drug dealers competing for a junkies trade. So lon

How long do the withdrawals last coming off Gabapentin? I've been taking 3600 mgs. per day for about two years. I have cold sweats and itching. I'm changing over to Lyrica, this is my second day. Is it going to be a problem quitting Gabapentin? I want to quiet cold turkey. I just need to know will it be a problem and how long it takes. Thanks ## Talk to your doctor. He (or she) will probably titrate your dose down fairly quickly. What do you take gabapentin for? I take 2700 mg a day for nerve pain. I have cervical spinal stenosis, but have no side effects. Lyrica is a controlled substance and is rather expensive. It's also addictive. Just do what your doctor says and you'll be Ok. ## Took me 4 weeks to withdraw from gabapentin. How much longer will this physical and mental torture last. ## Hello, Kirsty! How are you feeling? Has there been any improvement, yet? It may take a month, or so, before you really start to feel better. Medicare decided to cut me off this drug. Pharmacist working on it. Day 3 I NEVER want to feel this again. Not sure if I ever want to take this drug again as there are going to be problems with refills FOREVER! ## Hello, MN Loon! How are you? You may want to speak to your doctor about trying a different antidepressant. Many are available as generics, so Medicare usually covers them and, even if it doesn't, they are very cheap if you have to pay cash. Have you tried any of the others, or is this the first? How are you feeling? Have your symptoms eased up, yet?

It is 12:55 a.m. in U.S. I'm still awake. This is my second go round with quitting Tramadol. The first was back in May of 2014. I went to a detox facility for 5 days from a 15-20 a day habit. Had taken it for 7-8 yrs but 2012-2014 had slowly upped dosage. Was getting off internet last two yrs. 130$ twice a month or 3x a mnth. I couldn't take it anymore an had gotten sick with heart palpitations an skipped heart beat so went to ER an had to embarrassingly admitt to it. Two days later in detox. Came out ok. Was put on Zoloft two wks later. Then 2 1/2 mnghs later Zoloft was makin me to sick. Lost to much wt, liver enzymes went up to 50's. So had to stop. Then in Nov of 2014 found out I had started menopause couple months earlier. Had developed depression an anxiety. So had to s...

I take 120 pills of Valium 10 mg per month. They are prescribed. However, I am not the weening off type. I must stop cold turkey. I am an addict, I take Methadone now and I have been able to stay away from all drugs for about 7 years now, that is about how long I have been on the methadone program. Anyway getting back to your question about stopping vailum. I would not advise you to stop taking them at one time because I have known of instances that people could have their organs shut down from the sudden stopping of this drug. The men and women of the US, Coalition and NATO forces engaged in military operations and civilian affairs around the world are my heroes - with that said, there are also folks that operate behind the scenes supporting our country's heroes. These folks, are Civilians. I supported US and Coalition forces in a civilian capacity through 6 consecutive civilian deployments to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn. I also supported US and NATO forces in a civilian capacity through 4 consecutive deployments to Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom.
