## What is the shelf life of ciprofloxacn 250 mg tab? ## Well this medication doesn't ever get dangerous, if it goes past about 18months old, it does start to lose some effectiveness, so where you used to take 1 pill you may now have to take 2 to get the full beneficial dosage. My concern though is you self-treating. You should never do this as this antibiotic may not be appropriate for your current condition and you also run the risk of creating drug resistance.

what does ciprofloxacn treat? ## my husband has gout and needs some medicine, so was wondering if cipro was for that. He is in severe pain and redness of the big toe and up his foot. ## Yipes! If your husband has gout, you can't just go giving him random pills that are lying around the house. You should have a prescription for his gout medication! Cipro is an antibiotic. It is used for confirmed bacterial infections. But it is an incredibly toxic drug that can leave one disabled, even after just one pill. Please read this introduction to Fluoroquinolones here to see how dangerous these drugs can be. If you gave your husband Cipro and he become disabled, how guilty would you feel considering that these drugs don't even treat gout! So, he might become disabled simply because you g...

My doctor just prescribed two drugs for two different conditions, prednisone for severe poison ivy and ciprofloxacn for a urinary infection. After doing a bit of research, it is my understanding that prednisone should not be taken when there is an infection. Should I take them both? (Prednisone dosage: 5mg each tablet; 10 tablets daily for 2 days, reducing to 9/2days; 8/2days; 6/2days; 4/2days; 2/2days; 1/2days. Cipro dosage: 500 mg; 1 tablet twice daily for 14 days) ## You shouldn't take it if you have an active fungal infection that you are taking oral medications for, and it can make it easier for you to develop an infection, but it is fine to take if you're doctor has prescribed it for you, and is monitoring your condition regularly. My doctor prescribed Ciprofloxacn for a stomach infection, 500mg twice a day for 10 days. I am a runner, 64 years of age, and am concerned about possible tendentious, or other leg problems that could result. My question is, could this short of a dosage cause me serious leg problems that could cause me not to be able to run? ## There is really no way to say with any certainty. Some people can take it and never have a problem, but that type of side effect has happened to some people, even after just one or two doses. If you are that concerned about it, you should discuss it with your doctor and you may want to ask them about using a different antibiotic that may not be as risky. Are there any other questions or comments?

Do I take Cipro Before or After eating and is there any food I shouldn't eat when I do take it? ## The tablet and suspension are usually taken twice a day, in the morning and evening, with or without food. The extended-release tablets are usually taken once a day. Cipro XR brand extended-release tablets may also be taken with or without food. Take ciprofloxacin at around the same time(s) every day. The length of your treatment depends on the type of infection you have. Your doctor will tell you how long to take ciprofloxacin. The link below offers more information on how to take this medication as well as many other important details: Hope this helps! Is Cipro an antibiotic given for an Upper Resp. Infection? I ## Hi Cheri, The answer to your question is "yes", Ciprofloxacin can be used to treat a number of infections including: Upper and Lower respiratory tract infections (although it is not recommended as a first-line antibiotic choice for either of them). I would actually consider discussing with your doctor and/or pharmacy whether or not they think you should be using some other antibiotic (depending on how severe the infection is). The reason being, is that if you don't use the most effective antibiotic for your infection, then the bacteria can build a resistance to what you may be using; possibly rendering the treatment useless in the end. So yeah, I think it really depends on how severe your infection really is. If...

I am a 63 year old woman. I had a torn cuticle on my 4th toe and did get a small leech, (from a local lake) at that site on my toe. About 2 weeks later that toe became infected and there was a red line going from my toe up to my ankle. After going to an emergency clinic, I was prescribed 10 days of Amoxicillin. The infected toe began to look better and the red line was going away until around the 8th day of treatment. It became very itchy and I did scratch it quite a bit. Now the red line is very wide, goes up past my ankle and I have blotches on my shin---it is all raised, swollen, patchy and very itchy. Today I went to a local clinic and the doctor prescribed ciprofloxacn, and has given me a strong cortisone cream to apply topically. I am very concerned that he is just grabbing at str...

I took two at once, will I be okay? ## Hello, Jocelyn! How are you? Did you suffer any adverse effects? That could be too high of a dose for some people, so any time you've accidentally taken more than prescribed, it's always best to check with Poison Control or your doctor. Taking too much of it, as reported by the FDA, may result in respiratory depression, slow heart rate, lowered blood pressure, severe dizziness and severe drowsiness.
