Any information on Clonazepam? ## Years ago I was given a small (don't remember color) pill to put under my tongue to combat anxiety. It worked fast and completely. In minutes I was calm and my body reactions to anxiety were gone. What could that have been? I am now on Effexor ER and would like to get off as it is addicting. ## Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine that is most commonly used to treat anxiety, and panic disorders. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and mood changes. Ref: Clonazepam Information It is the one that was first available, years ago, in a sublingual tablet, like what you've described, however, is it the one that can be addictive, the Effexor you are currentl...

I cry a lot and I have a lot of issues in my family that cannot be overcome (Health). I need something that makes me not so emotional and DOESNT make me gain weight. I just need something to make me calm down easier. Don't suggest Cymbalta, welbutrin or Lexapro- I've tried all of those and although they worked, Lexapro was the best- I gained too much weight! Thanks! ## Hello, Terryvasil! How are you doing? Have you tried Prozac/Fluoxetine, yet? It isn't know to cause the same weight gain that the others do, as a matter of fact, if someone is carrying a few extra pounds, it's actually been known to cause them some weight loss. Learn more Prozac details here. It's also an SSRI antidepressant that can help with anxiety and other mood issues. Other side effects it can ca...

I WAS ON THE FENTANYL 50 MG PATCH FOR A LONG WHILE THEN WAS PUT ON A LOWER DOSE OF 25 MG AND THEN 12 MG TO SLOWLY TAKE ME OFF, AS I NO LONGER AM IN PAIN. BUT I HAVE HAD FEELINGS OF ANXIETY AND CAN'T SEEM TO CALM DOWN. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO CALM THESE ANXIOUS FEELINGS. OR DO I HAVE TO LET IT (THE ANXIETY) RUN IT'S COURSE?? ## Have you consulted your doctor? Sometimes they will prescribe a low dose Benzodiazepine, such as Xanax to be used for a short while. Other people have had success using something very mild, such as Benadryl. However, you need to check with your doctor to see what's right and safe for you to use. ## vERWON IS SPOT ON WITH ALL OF HIS ADVICE, ESP THE XANAX. Some people, like myself, have a paradox reaction to benedryl meaning that it makes them anxi...

A generic for Centrax - I think it is also available under the brand name Verstran? Does anyone else have more information on this drug? ## Quick question. I used to take xanax to calm down and it worked magic. Tried prazepam 10 mg tonight for the first time. 1 did not work so I took 1 more, yet that still does not seem to do it. If anyone is familiar with it could you advise whether 1 more would do it or if it can be mixed with herbal sleeping pills safely? I need to be up for work in 5 hours, so would also like to know when is the safe deadline to take it without feeling drowsy the next day? ## I would not suggest taking more than prescribed, due to the risk of possible overdose. The NIH warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, suc...

Baclofen can have some calming effects, but it is really a muscle relaxant, so it isn't likely to completely treat anxiety. ## hi thanks for reply, psychiatrist is a leading doctor in the treatment of addiction/anxiety,and is taking me up to a 100mg a day,he professed to having had large successes in anxiety reduction in the use of this drug.have seen many stories of people going to much higher doses, where they reach a 'switch off' point for all addictions. it was a book, The End of My Addiction | Olivier Ameisen, MD, that s...

I'm 40 and have had a spine operation about 6months ago. I have been given ciprolex 20mg which didn't help at all. My therapist prescribed Azor 0.5mg 3 times a day and african 1mg in severe panic. The most common side effects can include: nausea, headache and stomach irritation. Read more: ## I believe that it does. As soon as a began taking this medication, I experienced horrific nightmares and woke up with extreme chest pains and trouble calming down. I was diagnosed with SAD (Social Anxiety Disorder) a common trait found in about 12-15% of the population. It is different for every person including me. I often suffer from anxiety/nervousness symptoms - sweaty palms, shaky jaw/mouth area, throbbing heart, shakiness, stuttering/trembling voice and so on. I have begun using Pur Bloka which successfully keeps these symptoms at bay for 80% of the day including when I attend University. However the problem is that I am susceptible to allergies which can affect my chest and cause tightness. The doctor said I should not take Pur Bloka everyday because it can have an affect on my chest. I almost ignored that advice and went on with it because it truly calms me, thus relieving stress and keeping symptoms at bay. My question now: Is their an al...

I was given Prozac for depression by my PTP but this sent me to the ER on the 4th day. I woke up vomiting, with dizziness, my legs were so weak, I had a cold and hot rush, and the worst head ache. After fluids, morphine, labs and a CT scan I was sent home and was told I had a stomach flu (smh). My psychiatrist said it was a violent reaction to Prozac. He also said my PTP shouldn't have prescribed an anti depressant. I was very paranoid and I've had really low moods followed by extreme energy and insomnia among other things. He prescribed Abilify a few days ago. First day, I had no effects. I was on the edge, paranoid and even had a huge argument with a complete stranger. That night I couldn't sleep, I felt so anxious and my heart felt like it would beat too fast. I was panic...

Does anyone have experience of being treated with Dilantin for anxiety/depression/ADHD symptoms ? If so, could you advise me on dosage - Thanks ## Hope things have gotten better since you posted this. I have depression and anxiety as was adult ADD. I take patil. 10mg of Ativan as needed for the anxiety and to help me sleep when I can't calm my mind, and also Ritalin 10mg 2 times a day. The Ritalin being added really made a difference. I am not wanting to stay in bed. It has helped with my productivity and has helped me focus at work. I know this will not work for everyone but it sure did for me. ## I have taken Dilantin since I was 9 months old, then all kinds of drugs. Does anyone else have feedback after 10 years of Dilantin?

I've been diagnosed with PTSD, Panic DIsorder with agoraphobia and Major Depression Disorder. Those like me tend to be very sensitive to brain meds because our brain's circuitry is wired to notice every little nuance of sensory changes. This chronic vigilance becomes both exhausting AND psychologically necessary for self-preservation. That's a trap. In other words we're used to being on guard but we need to not be on guard--anything that attempts to adjust this will cause paradoxical effects. So for example Xanax may initially cause agitation or anxiety as it switches the brain from on guard to calm. Calm is not familiar therefore psychologically it triggers anxiety while the med is doing what it's supposed to do. Lexapro targets the cerebellum and the thalamus--acco...

What you need is some old fashioned therapy along with some possible medicine as well. It would be best to make an appointment with a Psychiatrist although a Psychologist can help you but without the medicine

I was given dilaudid a year ago for rotator cuff surgery. My physical therapy was an incredibly challenging recovery with pain meds required and the vicadin was not enough. I have some leftover 4 mg of the dilaudid. Theoretically, and statistically it is recommended to throw out all unused pain medications. I am mindful not to take it daily. I have no side effects and no desire to take it on a daily basis. I have tried clonapin and ativan for anxiety and they feel most helpful as a sleeping aid. With my occasional (2 to 4 times a week) one 4 mg dilaudid, I feel relaxed, calm and incredibly productive. But I also feel like maybe I am an addict (in denial) and need to check myself into a rehab. In all honestly I have tried anti-depressants and the anxiety meds listed above and dilaudid do...
