    Suboxone - Depression
Sunday, 3/21/2010 6:36:41 AM in Suboxone
Hello everybody. I am from Belgium, I am 47, and it has been 6 months now that I take 24mg Suboxone per day. The doctor prescript it - exceptionally, he said - in my case for severe depression (I have a history of drugs addiction, but that was a very long time ago). Suboxone is really saving my life. I feel fine with it, I can function normally. It is really a new life to me. My new psychiatrist want me to go down to 16mg a day, but I don't. Is there any reason I should go down ? If anyone had a similar experience, I would be very interested in knowing about it. Thank you all in advance. Jo.

    Accutane Long Term Side Effects
Sunday, 3/21/2010 12:25:27 AM in Accutane
I have a son that took accutane 60 mg a day for six months in a row three years ago. Now after many trips to doctors over strange medical problems, it seems accuatne is the culprit medication that has caused servere joint and muscle pain, severe dry lips, redness in face, eye infections of own immune system attacking itself, systems of osteoarthritis in both shoulders, both wrist and right hand, blood in stool, possible hair loss, abnormal liver function test results in AST and ALT. My son went from being a high school football and track athlete while taking this medication three years ago to someone that is in constant pain just washing a car. After I have researched this drug extensively, I can't believe that the FDA allows this drug originally made for cancer patients to be marketed for teenagers with acne. All one has to do is look online what vitamin A overdose does to someone and then you have the results of what this medication has done to my son. This drug needs to be taken off them market ASAP and the drug companies that make it need to compensate all teenagers that they have possible ruined their future. Shame on them ! What is going on here ?

    Fentanyl Sweating
Saturday, 3/20/2010 8:10:27 PM in Fentanyl
I am a 33 yr old woman being treated by Pain Mgmt Dr. for chronic pain as a result of 3 failed elbow surgeries and nerve damage. My current dosage is 50mcg/hr every 48 hrs with up to 4 oxycodone per day for break through pain. I know the patch is suppose to be a good medication for pain control, but I am really considering asking to change to a different medication because of the sweating problems I have on the Fentanyl and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I am constantly drenched sinced I have been on the patch. Dr tried hytrin to control sweating, but all that did was cause me to bloat. I tried HRT for a year to see if that would help...no luck, still sweating. I sleep with only a sheet over me and window open at night and still wake up soaked from sweat. If I do any physical activity at all I am drenched. The patch does seem to control the pain well, but I can't deal with beads of sweat rolling down my head all the time and my family is always freezing because I get so warm. Am I doing something wrong? I wear the patch on my upper chest, I use a tegaderm patch over it. I've tried the Mylan brand and now use the SanDoz brand. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I don't want to live my life in pain, but I can't take the sweating issue anymore!!! Is there a different medication that is time released like the Fentanyl Patch? My DR is a nice man, but doesn't always explain things too well and I don't have anyone to talk to about this. Thanks for listening.

    Effexor- Effectiveness And Side Effects
Saturday, 3/20/2010 7:34:14 PM in Effexor
I am keeping this brief: I have been taking Effexor for 3 months. I only take 75 mg. I have Major Dep and have tried many different meds for it. I am extremely sensitive to antidepressants and their side effects. So much so that I can't even go above 75mg per day. So here is me of Effexor: it helped right away. It was the best med for Dep I have taken so far. It is powerful and seems to hit the spot with me. I felt calmer, more alert, and all around happier- for about 2 months. Then the side effects started to get bad. When I first started on it, I had one or two Side Efx- excessive thirst, sweating. They were minor and a fair trade off for the effect of the drug. But my the start of the 3rd month, the side effects multiplied- excessive sweating, sleepiness, insomnia, thirst, loss of focus, confusion, extreme weight fluctuations. I could deal with a couple of these, but one on top of another was overwhelming my system. For example, like clockwork, I always passed out to sleep at 530 every day. I barely ever took naps before Effexor. I was going thru tons of Gatorade b/c I was always thirsty. I lost weight and got what I call giraffe neck and just looked really weird. My clothes started to hang off me. I was always dazed and out of it. I stopped drinking while taking effexor so I could let the drug take effect. So I had no other substance in my system aside from Effexor for 3 months. Now I am back to reducing the dose to 37.5 per day. It is not as effective, but the side efx have diminished greatly. There are withdrawal effects, but not any that are causing my major discomfort. I am pretty upset tho, b/c 75 mg was doing the trick. I will try to perhaps go back up to 75 in a little while, but for now, I can't do it without major side efx. To those considering this drug, here is what I think- it works. It works great. But it comes with strings attached. Maybe not for you. But for me, it did.

Has Kapisex Caused Anyone To Have A Chronic Cough?
Saturday, 3/20/2010 5:19:27 PM in Kapidex
After yearly endoscopy & removal of several polyps, doc put on kapidex. Got an annoying cough that after 2 months of kapidex has now turned into a severe cough that so far I have found no relief for, even after 2 trips to MD. Since this all started at time of endoscopy & start of Kapidex, wondering if one or the other could be my problem?

    Dangers Of Mirtazapine
Saturday, 3/20/2010 10:49:17 AM in Mirtazapine
It seems to me that Mirtazapine is a potentially dangerous drug with little information known about it. My veterinarian prescribed this drug in small quantities for my cat as an appetite stimulant, so I began reading articles on the drug and its effects. Although it is supposed to be used as an antidepressant for humans, it has a wide reputation for causing suicidal tendencies in children and young adults. It causes weight gain (the side effect my vet was looking for in my cat's case). It also can cause feelings of depression, and wooziness. I spoke with a nurse who took it and she said the effects of sluggishness and dizziness lasted 2 to 3 days. It can also cause nausea and headaches. It seems to me that these side effects are anything but what a person who is already depressed should be feeling. (suicidal tendencies that they didn't originally have, feeling tired and unwell physically, and weight gain that could cause feelings of insecurity or increased depression) Giving this drug to my cat was the worst thing I ever did. About an hour after administering it to her, she began crying, looking confused, and she could not walk straight. We figured the effects would wear off, but they seemed to worsen. The next day she was holding her head down, walking in circles (trying to walk straight) and she could not focus her eyes. We brought her to the emergency animal hospital, and they called a poison center. Even the poison center had so little information on this drug (especially being prescribed to cats) that they did not know how to counteract the effects. We believe that the drug actually caused a mild stroke in our cat, and the vet said this looked like it might be the case. On top of that, it has a 72 hour half life, so we just had to wait the drug out for her to even feel better. If this drug could cause a mild stroke in my cat, I could only imagine what it could also do to a human. With so little knowledge of the effects, and such long-lasting effects, it seems to me that it is a dangerous and harmful drug for doctors to be prescribing. A few years from now, when it actually is studied more, I bet that it will be taken off the market as another one of those trial drugs that did not work out. Until then, how many people (and animals) will it harm?
