2	Xlink Says: Report Abuse Tuesday, 4/10/2007 5:45:01 PM The only difference between what you are considering Xanax and Xanbars is the dosage. The medication is the same. The rectangular bar is simply a higher dosage than the individual tablet.
3	Verwon Says: [Moderator] Sunday, 4/15/2007 4:18:33 AM In some cases the dosage may even be the same, the bars are just made so they can easily be cut in half for someone who has trouble swallowing pills or needs to take a lower dosage. The difference you are experiencing may be caused by switching from one brand to another, generics are allowed to differ from the name brands by as much as plus or minus 20% of the active ingredient, so if you were used to taking something made by a different company or the name brand, and suddenly were given a generic or a generic made by a different company you might be getting a slightly lower dosage, so you may need to discuss this with our doctor.
