Please also help, I need some help trying to get off percocets for good. I have had back surgery now and everytime I try to stop taking the percocets I get really sick. Anything to relieve this sickness. The worst part is the anxiety I get, I feel like my heart is jumping out of my chest. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
There is a high risk of experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms if a patient discontinues oxycodone(Percocet) abruptly. Therefore therapy should be gradually discontinued rather than abruptly discontinued. It is known to have anxiety and flu like symtoms when stopping Percocet.
Go see your doctor. I am sure he will be happy to hear that you are trying to get off the pains pills & he can take you off of them the correct way. it is very understanding how you got addicted to the pain pills, but please get proper help to come off of them.
Hi Suel, I am a psychotherapist and a holistic practitioner. I work with people who want to deal with pain without medicating themselves. There is a great deal of research now on a technique called MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction). Basically, it's a meditation technique that people learn to deal with chronic pain, anxiety and even depression. It's been shown to be very effective. I don't know where you live but I offer it here in Los Angeles. Otherwise, look up MBSR and the city you live in and you should get some hits. With that said, others are right about not stopping the meds on your own. Consult your physician and come off the drugs gradually. Also look into acupuncture and herbs to deal with any symptoms of withdrawal. I hope this is helpful.

For those of you who are concerned about the side effects of Percocet, or trying to figure out how to get off this medication I urge you to read the helpful and encouraging postings found under the drug name Oxycontin. In case you are not aware of this information already, Percocet is Oxycontin in it's immediate release form. Therefore all the information discussed under Oxycontin is essentially discussing the drug you are currently taking for pain. You will know you found the right discussion page on Oxycontin if you see my many postings which I started over a year ago when I was taking very high levels of controlled release Oxycontin. Today I am Oxycontin free and urging others on how to tackle this challenge.
