I have had moderate to severe back pain for several years now, and have been prescribed meloxicam, vicodin, zanaflex, flexoril, and percocet, just to nam a few. i ignored the pain for several years, but it got to the point where i had to get it checked out. after getting an mri, they discovered several problems with my lower back. degenerative bone disease, slipped discs, arthritis, etc. Most of this is due to the nature of my work, and a couple of motorcycle wrecks. Here is my main question and problem. Out of all of the things that I have been given, I find that oxycodone works the best for me personally, without making me drowsy, or having any other adverse side affects. My doctor was giving me 90 extra strength vicodin per month, with another 90 percocets to use during the extra bad days over a 6 month period. This was in conjunction with a muscle relaxer, too, all of which made me drowsy. I know that taking that much vicodin and percocet is not good at all for my liver. I take 40 mg of prozac as well for an antidepressant. $0 mg of oxycodone twice a day, sometimes only once, relieves my painto a tolerant level and produces no side effects. However, when I mentioned this to my doctor, he is reluctant to prescribe it. I have since been to a pain management clinic, where I now getting injections in my lower facets every six months. This is a big help, and has made a lot of difference, but I would still rather take 1 dose of oxycodone and not have to take all of the other stuff at all, with the exception of my antidepressant. My friends and family tell me to go to a certain doctor that will prescribe it, but I don't feel comfortable doing this, nor do I think it is morally the right thing to do. I know what works best for me and my body, what am I not seeing or understanding to get the medication I want from my doctors?

Well, first off, I would like to state that long-term use of Oxycodone is not going to be good for your liver, either. It is just as dangerous and damaging as other medications.
It is, also, the active narcotic in the Percocet you've been taking, coupled with Acetaminophen.
That said, I am very sorry to read what you are going through. It is a sad fact that due to worried forced on the doctors by the government, many chronic pain patients are forced to do without the proper medication that could help their condition.
The main issue most doctors have is that whenever they write a prescription for a potent narcotic, like straight Oxycodone, especially in its time released form, they must be ready to explain to the FDA why they did so.
If the government questions it and doesn't agree that it was necessary, they face sanctions, fines and suspension or loss of their medical license.
On top of all of this, they also have to worry about the possibility of abuse and addiction.
The goal of the pain management facility you are going to, is to try to relieve your pain without the strict use of narcotics. They eventually hope to get you to the point where you don't even need their treatments as often. As far as I can tell, this is probably your best idea.
please check out prozac website, noone told my husband that he couldnt take his prozac with oxy and zanax and it killed him, prozac will tell you that 27 different medications can increase or decrease when taken with prozac, he just stopped breathing at restraunt eating breakfast and we lost him father of three sons and my best friend, please talk to prozac and dont roll the dice, it took 3 years for it to finally kill him and you will die you need another medication please please listen to me
Crystal,Do you remember you are facing drug trafficking charge? You sold a police informant and an undercover detective 20 OxyContin 80mg pills for $500. So, What kind of person you are????
I am not sure what last years traffic charges have to do with this post but yes I was facing it but received sale of a controlled substance and it was not an undercover cop I picked up a friends prescription and delivered it to him at his wifes request and five months later was arrested on the traffic charge. Because of newspaper articles my atty avised me to plea to a lesser charge even though no evidence of illegal activity was available. Someone said I did something wrong. I now know that you may not pick up someone elses preseciption unless you are made oversee by saids doctor. So please tell me what my pleas to the other blogger to be careful the mix could kill him has to do with my personal trouble last year. Does it make you feel better about your own failures in life to place my out for all to see. Well I am sure that everyone knows about my personal troubles and I have accepted them and learned from it. I thank you for your comments though have a great night!
I apologize I did not answer your question,(what kind of person am I) I am not the person you read about and it is a shame that someone believes everything they read, I am human and I am not without fault trust me If you would like some examples of my failures for your entertainment I would be more than happy to list some for you or you can read about them next year in my book. I hope I havent come off as rude I am just over the rumors and lies. Have a nice night.
