I was prescribed nitrofuran monohyd macro for a bladder infection. The print out from the drug store says tablet but these are capsules. Printed on the side is the word Mylan 3422. Can you tell me if this is the correct generic medication of Macrobid? Please send your answer to my private email. Thank you, Barbara

I can confirm this is the correct prescription, but I cannot email it to you since you did not post your email address publicly.

As to using this during pregnancy there are some warnings in the monograph about that, however, if you are using it as prescribed by your doctor, then they have carefully weight the risks and benefits.
I was prescribed this medication (100) as a preventative meaure for chronic UTIs. I was indstructed to take one pill after sex to prevent a UTI. This has been working miraculously, however, I am concerned about its interaction with my birth control. The only measure of birth control my boyfriend and I use is the pill (Lo/Ovral). Will this antibiotic counteract my birth control pill if I take it each time after sex?
I was prescribed nitrofurantoin macro (100mg) (post-coital) to prevent UTIs. I wasn't feeling any symptoms after intercourse so I waited for about 5 hours to take the pill. I am feeling better now, but I'm wondering whether I should take one or two more pills? (per day) I seem to recall that I was supposed to take the medicine for 3 consecutive days, but I'm not entirely sure! thanks
