Women are generally advised to use extra protection for the 1st seven days. The only reason you are really advised to take it at the same time every day is because you need to be in the habit of taking it, as long as you haven't missed any days, the time you take it has no relevance to its effectiveness. taking it at the same 24 hour intervals also decreases the amount of breakthrough bleeding that you might experience.
