When prescribing medications, the doctor must take many factors into account, including any other medical conditions, their severity and all medications he may be taking. Have you spoken to his doctor about your concerns? Gabapentin is an anticonvulstant medication that has also been proven effective at treating certain types of nerve pain. Common side effects can include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
