Quoted from an Older Article Below: 'The Food and Drug Administration approved the drug atorvastatin (Lipitor), which research suggests is more potent than the older statins. At its highest dose, atorvastatin may confer a slight advantage in reducing LDL for those with very high cholesterol. For most people, the lowest standard dose of atorvastatin is sufficient to help achieve target cholesterol levels. Why atorvastatin is more potent is not completely clear. Atorvastatin has a longer period of action than older stating, which may be why this drug produces similar reductions in cholesterol whether taken in the morning or at night.'
2	D Hooton Says: Report Abuse Thursday, 1/5/2006 4:14:50 AM I'm presently taking Lipitor and the date it should be used is about a month over the date shown on the container. Will it still be as effective if I use it now? It's about a 40 day supply. Will it lose any potency? It has been stored in the manufactures white container and was sealed. Thank you.
