My mother is on coumadin and can't seem to get regulated. Her arms are very sore and bruised because of all the blood tests. She was just told to cut down on leafy green vegetables. Is there anything else that might help?

The reason they tell people on this medication not to eat certain leafy green vegetables is because they contain Vitamin K, which can also thin your blood.
A doctor with more experience using the drug, however, usually adjusts the drug to the person's diet and not vice-versa. As long as the person does not suddenly start eating a ton more or less than they usually do, then they should not have a problem.
If it bothers your grandfather, then have him speak to his doctor.
Re regulating coumadin... I found that the magnesium I was taking caused my coumadin to be depleted Many dr's knew I was on this but the missed the fact that i does deplete the coumadin
