The V did not stand for Valium, secondarily so because it is not typical for a initial patent holder to release a medication branded with a number/letter combo. If it were V for valium, the pill would have been a cutout V... one of the most distinguishable pills in the lexicon (K-Cuts Klonopin are the other cut-out.) A simple schooling in size, shape, and color likelyhood will enable you to better hypothesize about the content of a pill in the future, but good for you for verifying regardless.
