I have a friend who is very concern with the fact that he caught his ex-wife with someone recently, and is concerned if she caught something. He also found a perscription for Valtrex in her purse, snd is wondering if she's reacting to a problem from this one night stand. Any information on this, would be very much appreciated. He also said she said it iwas perscribed for COld Sores? Thank You!
Has your wife experienced cold sores in the past? If so then you should already be aware that she carries Herpes I. Instead of waiting through a week or more of excruciating pain, she may be using her medication to treat her current condition, one that you may already have too. Valtrex can prompt healing if taken at the first sign of an outbreak to either supressing the blister from forming or healing it within 3-5 days.
Sorry, but I couldn't let this pass without clearing up the Cold Sores question. LOTS of people take Valtrex for Cold sores. I do! and several friends do also. It has been shown to reduce the number of Cold sore (herpes 1) dramatically. Anyone who insists that you have to have genital herpes if your taking Valtrex is just ill-informed... or stupid.
This is not just for herpes. I am suffering from Sudden hearing loss and am taking this as an anti-viral - may say herpes, but docs use it as an anti-viral for other things too....
