Take this medicine orally once a day or as directed by your physician. Pick the time of day which is easiest for you to remember, and try to take it at the same time every day.

Be sure that you continue to take it exactly as directed by your doctor. The amount of progrestin and estrogen in each pill may vary at different times in the monthly cycle, depending on the brand of birth control. Therefore, be sure that you follow the instructions and start with the first tablet in the pack, and always follow the correct order. Do not skip doses. You have a higher chance of getting pregnant if you miss pills, start a pack late, or take a pill at a different time of day than usual.

If you experience upset stomach or nausea with this medicine, it may help to take it at bed time or after your eveing meal. Try to take it at a time of day which is easiest for you to remember. It is very important to take this at the same time each day (24 hours apart), no matter what time of day you decide to start on.

If you are just starting this medication (and are not switching from any other birth control drugs), start the first tablet in the pack on the 1st Sunday which follows the BEGINNING of your period, or on the first day of your menstrual cycle. If your period starts on a Sunday, start taking the medication on that day. For the first cycle of use only, use other forms of non-hormonal birth control (NOT drugs - such as spermicide or condoms) for the first 7 days to avoid pregnancy, so that the medication has enough time to work. If you are starting this on the first day of your period, you do not need to use any back up birth control for the 1st week.

Always check with your physician for details about how to switch to this medication from other forms of birth control meds. As always, if you have any questions, or any of this information is unclear, be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist.
