This is Trazodone 50mg made by Pliva/Sidmak Labs. It is an antidepressant with mild sedative properties, sometimes prescribed as a sleeping pill.

This is 50mgs Trazadone, a generic for Desyrel. However, IT IS NOT A SLEEPING PILL. It is actually an antidepressant that has drowsiness as a side effect. http://www.prescriptiondrug-info.com/drug_information_online.asp?title=Trazodone&page=1001968&ad=true

Trazadone is actually a mild synthetic opioid, similiar to methadone, but lesser in potency. It is used to treat mild to moderate pain, as well as having other alternate uses. One should be careful when taking Trazadone, because you CAN become addicted to it, and withdraw from it. I used to work for a pain management doctor, and am well versed in medications. I urge anyone who does not believe me, to do some research on their own, and see what they find. Hope this helps!

I was prescribed Trazodone to help with my sleeping disorder. It can also be used as an anti-depressant in higher doses (about 400 mg). The lower doses (25-100 mg) are used as a sleeping aid because of the mild sedative properties.

Trazadone is an anti-depressant but lower miligrams such as a 50mg substitues a sleeping aid. This medication can also temporarily treat common pain such as arthiritis..exc. Trazadone is a highly addictive medicine similar to Methadone except it has lower potency. Withdraw is common if drug is abused.

Trazadone was the first SSRI anti-depressant. It was prescribed in high doses 400 - 500 mg, but it simply succeeded in putting people to sleep, which it does quite well at lower doses. I take 100-150mg at night to sleep; have been doing so for six years; have had no problems when I have run out, and my understanding of this medication is that it is not addictive, but others on this forum with more experience with medication say it is. If you are going to take it, recommended dose is 50mg to start. Do not increase in more than 25mg - 50mg increments, or you will get some funny side effects. Typically it is quite free of side effects, although I have a couple of friends & relatives who say they've tried it for sleep and gotten no results at all. My shrink's on-call partner told me one time that if you increase the dosage too fast, you get tracking like you'd get with acid, which I thought was a pretty wild answer from a shrink who'd never even met me before that phone call. LOL!
