Randy Says:
Can I crush up an OxyContin 40 and put it into an empty pill capsule so that way it all hits me at once.(Because OxyContin has a 12 hour extended release period.)

Would I be able to do this?
would it work for me?

I don't know why Dr.Jones just assumed you were an addict...but anywho...the answer is NO...DO NOT crush this pill...yes it is extended release so what that means is the pill is timed to release 40 mgs of oxycodone into your system on an hourly basis...to crush, chew or break up this pill in anyway breaks the time seal & can be FATAL...think of it this way...it says 40 mgs...thats a time released 40 mgs...the actual pill contains more than 40 mgs...so by damaging the pill in anyway there would be no way to tell how much of the drug is released into your system at one time...so i would say...DO NOT DAMAGE THIS PILL IN ANY WAY BEFORE TAKING IT...if you are in that much pain I would sugest you speak with your Dr about getting a higher dose of oxycontin or other alternative...I am a phamacist tech. by the way

DEFINITELY DO NOT CRUSH THIS PILL! That is very dangerous and a good way to start on the road to addictive behaviour. (I have removed the insulting post, to avoid arguments and confusion!)

Just as M Williams said, if you are taking this and it is not handling your pain, then you need to speak to your doctor. There are regular release formulations, as well as some instant release formulations of Oxycodone available.

Taking it upon yourself to crush the pill to try to handle your pain is a VERY BAD IDEA!

My Stepsister has had a suspision that her daughter may be doing drugs. She said she found some residue on her dresser and a rolled up piece of paper with residue, that was orange, pinkish (like a childrens bayer asprin). She asked if I may be able to find out what it might be. She is bypolar so I am assuming that she is self medicating. The only thing that I could think of is possibly Saboxin (I probably spelled it wrong) But if you have any ideas or know where in the Lynn Ma area that it could be tested please let me know!!! Thank you. Ann

about the question from germano, cyboxin is an orage pill shaped like an octogon, it is very sweet tasting if there was residue on paper they are probably snorting this drug, a lot of people addicted to narcotics crush them up and snort them, It is a drug used to come off of stronger drugs, oxycontin, hydrocodone, heroin, if they are snorting it it probably means they were snorting to stronger drugs
