Darryl Ball Says:
I have just been diagnosed with ITP; I am told it could be caused from the medication Naproxin because of purpura ingredient.
We have been seeing several doctors and on 9/20/09 we have consultation for treatment. My platelets keep dropping and are around 60,000. I am sick almost all day, no energy, red spots, head ache
I also have a condition in my legs that is called Lumpadema, swelling and has been being treated along with the arthritis. No one told us of this side effect and what could happen.
Is this tempoary or now long term with treatment?

Well, first of all, it is hard to say whether or not is was caused by Naproxen or developed because of some other reason.

We are not medical professionals and cannot possibly guess, especially since we do not know your full medical history and medical conditions, as well as treatments.

I am afraid I have to give the same answer on whether or not it is temporary or you will suffer permanent problems, there is just no way for us to know.

What have your doctors advised?

The doctors are not to helpful since they said ITP. See a hemo dr on 9/20 for treatment options.
Should they not find what caused the problem to help them better with the best treatment options?

monthly since I have had symptoms and not felt good. Put me back on Naproxen because the arthritis is bad without something. Next month, your platelets are dropping and your protein, now this month they are still dropping and blood is also being upset. Send to a blood specialist and he says I tested high for ITP and I should stop all anti inflammatory. I had a ultra sound this week to determine how the spleen and liver are doing since they have been in large for over a year. Yes, this was discovered a long time ago and the dr indicated don't worry about that. I also have a hernia for over a year now and dr said we cannot ask for surgery on this until I loose weight. Loosing weight has been hard, I lost about 35 lbs and then had to go on predizone for breathing and gained the weight back. I have been feeling bad for so long, but the dr assured me that these organs were not showing any infection, how is this determined.
Sorry for blabbering on but the more I think about this the more angry I get that I should have questioned the medication and treatment the dr prescribed.
