Azithromycin is a real antibiotic and made by a real company. I really haven't researched it to see what country it is made in. What makes you think it is fake? What are the imprints on it..the numbers/letters, color and shape of pill or capsule. I wouldn't take it just for a sore throat. A sore throat is usually viral not bacterial; therefore, an antibiotic will not really make a difference. If you suspect you have a throat infection such as strept or something like that get to the doctot first before self medicationg.

Mary, is your response to Torveena's. I;m confused if it is. Torveena has already indicated what the drug is...Azithromycin. Also, the number you list under Pliva is only ONE type/strength of the drug made. Mary did not indicate any of this information. However, if you are asking for yourself what Plivia 787 is, then it is Azithromycin. Please help us to understand what it is you are looking for here.

Sometimes, if someone has a pill they think is the same thing, or know what it is and they just want more info on side effects, they will just add it onto another post, very confusing I know, and we have repeatedly asked people not to hijacks other's threads but to start their own, but most don't listen or read the site instructions.

The dosage on the Pliva 787 is 250mgs, if that is what you are asking.

And Torveena, nenene is right, you should not self-medicate, especially with antibiotics as there are so many instances now of somebody taking the wrong antibiotic or repeatedly using the same one and then building up antibiotic resistance. Your doc will be able to figure out what is causing your sore throat and prescribe the best antibiotic to use for it. They do not like to repeatedly use the same ones all the time, the dangers are just too great.

If Mary is looking for more prescribing and side effect info, it is here:

I remember one time, several years ago, when my cat Mr. Whiskers panicked when our friends got a new dog and brought it over, he was freaked, the dog was barking at him, and instead of pulling her away, they thought it was funny, well neither I, nor Skwers though it was very funny, especially after he finally went totally spaz to get away from the doc and bit clear through the thumbnail on my left hand. When I went to my next docs appointment, I showed it to her, we weren't worried about rabies or anything, since it was my own cat, who I know is healthy and has his shots and wormers, but she spent over 45 minutes hunting a specific, rarely prescribed antibiotic that is recommended for feline bites, to prevent infections from the most common things they may have in their saliva, even if they are healthy.

Wow what an incredible doc! Also, so many people are deathly allergic to antibiotics. I go into anaphylactic shock when given Bactrim or IV contrast. I found out the hard way but I look everything up now before taking it. Once Walgreen's filled a prescription for Sulfa knowing I was deathly allergic to Bactrim. If I wouldn't have caught it myself I would have been dead.
