Recent Posts About snow shovel handle bumped me in the head at The People's Medicine Community. I was out shoveling with my daughter and slipped on the driveway and knocked into her, she slipped and the shovel fell, bumping me in the head. I don't know if it's my imagination, but feel slightly dizzy. Do you think that I need to call the doc or even worry about it?

Definitely pay attention to how you are feeling, the body is really good at telling you most of the time. You might also want to ensure that you don't have a concussion. The following are some things to look out for:

"The signs and symptoms of a concussion can be subtle and may not appear immediately. Symptoms can last for days, weeks or longer.

The two most common concussion symptoms are confusion and amnesia. The amnesia, which may or may not be preceded by a loss of consciousness, almost always involves the loss of memory of the impact that caused the concussion.

Other immediate signs and symptoms of a concussion may include:

- Headache
- Dizziness
- Ringing in the ears
- Nausea or vomiting
- Slurred speech

Some symptoms of concussions don't appear until hours or days later. They include:

- Mood and cognitive disturbances
- Sensitivity to light and noise
- Sleep disturbances "

Reference:
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/concussion/DS00320/DSECTION=symptoms

If you have any other questions or information to add, please post back.
