Recent Posts About oxycodone at The People's Medicine Community. I was on oxycodone, 40 mg. and live in N.J.. The pharmacy's are telling me that as soon as they run out of it , it will only be available in oxycontin, has anyone else come accross this issue, it happened last month, 7-08.?

No do not take that advice. Ya methadone may help u lean off of the oxycodone, however its a very risky way of detox because if you get hooked on methadone it will be almost impossible for you to kick the habbit. What happens is that the methadone stays in your system for a long time. The withdrawals from the methodone usually is a month long as opposed to oxycodone which withdrawals last for up to a week at the most.

Well you are better off asking your doctor to prescribe you Oxycontin only if you make less than $21,000 a year. You can get them straight from Purdue Pharma which is the manufacture of Oxycontin for $25 a month i get 60 80mgs a month through patient assistance from them. But you have to make $21,000 or less a year other wise your screwed. You just have to get the phone number off the internet straight from Purdue Pharma and they will fax a form to your doctor and then you fill it out and send it in with your script and if you get approved, you are approved for 1 year. and after the first month you just get your script send it yourself with 25 bucks and you will have your meds in like 4 days its great. But i cant say not making any money is better either but i save my self $800 a month this way

It has nothing to do with losing their business to others or a lawsuit, it has to do with the rampant abuse. If only one company is manufacturing Oxycontin, then it is easier to regulate it and keep track of, to prevent diversion, theft and abuse.

Yes, I have heard the same thing. I live in NJ. It was because of a lawsuit. The brand name company doesnt want to keep losing their business to the manufacturer of the generic. I have been on oxycodone for 5 years. I am currently without insurance and had to pay 100% of the generic. It cost 424.00 for a one month supply. My pharmacist advised it will be over 800.00 as soon as they stop making the generics which is supposed to be in a couple of months. Best of luck to you.

That is exactly correct. Due to rampant abuse and theft, the time released Oxycodone is no longer available for generic production, only the name brand will be available.
