Recent Posts About oxybutynin and overactive bladder at The People's Medicine Community. Does anyone know how long it takes for this drug to leave your system. I don't think it is working for me and I want to compare how may times I urinate with and without it?

the half life of Oxybutynin is short so it should be done doing it's 'thing' in 6-8 hrs. I had to change generics in the past, due to my pharmacy's choice, and all of a sudden the med stopped working. Thank God, I told the pharmacist, as she told me that this happens with some generics and they have a certain % of failure rate that is allowed. She went and ordered me the old generics back and the med worked just like it always has. This may or not help, but thought I'd tell you anyhow.

Hopefully this will work for me - how long does it take for it to start working?

Have you tried an natural alternative? There are natural ways to help with OAB, such as Bladder training, Pelvic floor exercises, and many more. Have you ever spoke with a natural doctor? They can sometimes help without using drugs. There is typically a natural doctor in ever area. If you would like some help, please post back. I would just need your zip code.

Alot of time, when people take multiple drugs, it can effects other drugs in a negative ways.

Yes, my urologist has prescribed them over a period of a year and a half. I had a bladder biopsy in the beginng because I had blood in my urine and a UTI that would not respond to antibiotics. He found I had Interstistual cystitis for which I take Elmiron 3x a day. Also he found my bladder is small and does not empty completely. What really bothers me is that I have to urinate 3 to 4x at night. During the day I'm lucky if I can wait 2 hours before going. Sometimes, especially on trips after I go, 15 minutes later I feel like I need to go again. I think this is from nervous stress.
The oab meds really dry me out and I've had some brain fog. In the mornings I have blurry vision and some slight nausea and light headiness . It goes away later in the morning. I see my dr. on the 14th. I've been off the Gelnique for a week now and honestly I'm going less. Go figure.

May I ask if you recieved these drugs from your doctor? If not and you purchsed them over the internet your body may not react the way you want it to. Eveyone is different, so you may need a higher mg/dosage of these drugs. I am not a doctor so I can not tell you what your dosage should be.

If you did recieve them from a doctor, then I would speak to he/she about this. Your doctor should be trying to find the right drug for you, not giving you a new prescription every few weeks/months. Did you take any test that would help pin point the problem?

Please post back so I can help you better.

I've been on Gelnique (the oxybutynin gel) about 3 weeks. Before that, the oxytrol patch about two months. Before that, I was on Vesicare for several months. Before that Detrol La and before that Santura Xr. All this over a period of about a year. None of them have helped my OAB.
