Nic, People are different! God did not make us all the same! Everyone has a different tolerance and some are on a lot of medication because of physical problems. I also feel that age has a lot to do with it as welI. I tried going off 15 mg of Methadone but I was in such terrible pain that I could not do it. I am now going off 5 mg per week and it is working. Oh, by the way, I am 62 years old.

You said to let you know how I was coming along with the Methadone withdrawal. I have reduced the Methadone from 30 mg a day to 20 mg a day. It has worked well for me doing 5mg reduction per 2 weeks. I do feel bad but have had very little pain and absolutely nothing as bad as others who have written on the message board. I plan to stop now and wait until after the holidays
to start reducing the methadone until I am off it.

Hi Jimk...I really had to call Nic on his BS, because he is not only now lying claiming to be a doctor, but his advice may very well cause an addict great harm. You have been through withdrawl so you know it isn't done with in a few days or weeks. Heck my brother in law walked off the clinic at 60MG and it took him 6 months to even begin to feel normal. I am glad you are staying here to post because as you can see there aren't too many people here that know what they are talking about. You and I are dope fiends and we know what it is like, and that is the key. Addicts know we are for real and we don't need a college degree to help, all we need to help is our experience. I did the NA thing for a long time and when I relapsed I found out really quick that those people didn't want me around because they were scared that if I was around too much my relapse would wear off on them, I walked out of an NA meeting in 2002 and never looked back. Thanks for the heads up about me tapering, but I have been on this rollercoster ride since I was 14 years old, and I am happy where I am at. I know what happens when I taper, first it starts with vicodin, and I go straight back to heroin, and I am too old for this crap, At 54 years old, I just can't use anymore. People saying I subsutue one drug 4 another, well, thats ok because where I am sitting, methadone is much better than fixing that tar. This last time, I almost managed to die. Abbccess, Hep B+C scars all over, and I just cant go through it anymore.This ole dope fiend has lost her hustle, Can you see a 54 year old turning tricks?? LOL My hubby wouldn't let me do that anyway.Heck, I'm not even a good liar anymore..My hubby does plan on tapering, and he is going SLOW. I think he is doing 3mg every 6 weeks/ He is on 45mg right now. Anyway Jim, have a great weekend, and I will TTYS

I will continue to post here and help people out who need it. Oh yeah, Pat, just so you know I got clean on my own. I had tried AA/NA in the past, its not for me either. You can still do it without AA/NA, I did it. Its all about willpower. Good luck man.

Pat, I don't condone taking people being taking off all at once!. I'm just saying you pu##y addicts can get off with no problem in 10 to 14 days. You don't because you're afraid to be a little uncomfortable. Well, life is uncomfortable. You're still in the junkie mode and extend your detox because you want to continue taking something every day until you magically feel no pain at all. All you people have to do is sneeze and oh my God I'm illin, I need something. I don't care what your doses are out there. Man up pu##ies and do it in 10 to 14 days. You keep stretching and stretching because subconsciencely you never want to get totally off. What total losers

Hi Jimk..Thanks for your posts..You are successful in your methadone taper because you did it the right way. I am glad that you spoke up about the Benzos. I have been on MMT since Jan 2001, and I plan on staying on it until there is a cure for opiate addiction. But I am the exception, not the rule. I have never kicked in Prison, but I really know you suffered. and I am so sorrry. The 12 steps aren't for me, but I am glad they work for you. Please keep posting so you can help people with your experience....And Nic. No one made up a website. Look up newspaper articles, and look up court cases, people have died in jail from forced methadone WD's. Where I live, you go to jail, you get dosed PERIOD. If you don't know what you are talking about then STFU because you can kill someone with lies. You are really clueless if you have never heard of PAWS. Post acute withdrawls. You are a joke. As for the weight issue. After your off methadone and your body adjusts to feeling normal again you will have the natural energy and you can set yourself up with a 3 day a week workout routine. Not only will that help out with the weight but you will feel better all around. Just make sure to follow a strict routine, dont break it. It might not be pleasant at first but after about a month, you will enjoy it. It will also help with your sleeping pattern and relieve stress as well as staying healthy.
