I have just finished a 7 month course on Lexamil 20mg 4 days ago. I had slight weight gain, but got back to normal as soon as I got into a regular exercise routine. It really worked for me, as I was very depressed and felt better after a month of use. I have had no loss of libido and think it is a great product. The only thing is, that now that I'm not on the drug any more, I suffer spells of vertigo, but it's getting better every day.

I have been using Leximal for a month now. The first week was a mix of mild nausea and head aches. The week thereafter, these effects went away and was replaced with the worst night sweats (I have to change my bedding and clothing twice in a night, and wake up in the morning in a cold damp shiver) I also have no sex drive anymore and cannot reach climax. I have not read above that anyone is experiencing this, but I have a heavy discharge which is quite terrible. I get sleepy tired very soon in the evenings and have to go to sleep at least 2 to 3 hours earlier at night than normal, just can't stay awake. I don't have the urge to socialize, but with the help of this medicine, it does not bother me as much as it used to in the past. I am just glad to not experience paranoia, hopelessness and feelings of meaninglessness. I can laugh again which is important to me. I am worried about what will happen the day when I need to stop taking this medicine, I don't want to be dependant on it forever and hope to feel content with life, without it one day. Apparently I need to be on it for 1 year. I still have the same ideas and conclusions about life as before, but I am glad they don't get me down like they used to, almost like acceptance.

I have suffered with chronic depression as long as I can remember and have been on many, many medications, until going on Cipralex about 4 years ago and now for the last 6 months on Lexamil. Lexamil is a cheaper version of Cipralex and I can not note the difference between the 2 at all - if only this medication was available many years ago - my life would overall have been so much better. Who ever suffers with depression - don't think that you are brave by going off your medication - as I have tried NUMEROUS times - don't, its not worth it........and why - it's helping you, isn't it?? My Pschiatrist explained eg. if a diabetic needs medication to balance his sugar level, they don't stop when they are feeling better - that's stupid. I was told that I would have to be on antidepressants for the rest of my life - I'm fine and living a 'normal' life now (at long last!) because I am not messing with the chemical imbalance in my brain by stopping and starting antidepressants. At the age of 60, I wish I had this type of 'get up and go' in me years ago, when they were still trying to see what would help me. BUT I also tried to be 'strong' and go off the meds - which, now I now, I should never have done. I weigh 68kg - height 166cm and in my 5th year of belly dancing. I know that very heavy feeling of dread, sadness, suicidal tendencies, severe unexplained crying, worthlessness etc. and I just don't ever want to go there again. If it helps - stay on it!

I have been on Lexamil for over a year now. No weight gain really, but a severe drop in labido and sex drive - which is seriously damaging my relationship. So I have taken it upon myself to stop Lexamil and deal with things myself - the natural way - exercise and happy thoughts. However, I am experiencing severe anxiety again and having very bad days where I just can't do life or people. My suggestion - definately try weening off Lexamil. The specialists know what they're talking about when they say never go cold turkey! I'm now trying to find an alternative.

Hey Mandy! I was at my doc 3 days ago he said he wants me to take it for at least a year or two because even if you feel good after one or two months... if you stop to soon u will be more depro than you started.. So if you do go back on it stay on it for long even if you feel dandy!!! If been on it for 3 days now and i must say im not that hungry! And to everyone that is saying they have gained weight... id like to remind you that because of depression you tend to eat more... it takes about 6 weeks for lexamil to work as it should! Once the pill has started to work you will lose weight coz you wont constantly eat!! Please guys stay on your lexamil long enough to give it a fare chance of working!!!

I am taking anti-depressents for 21/2 years now to treat my PMS from hell. It does help alot and over the 21/2 years change my meds 3 times. I have started lexamil 5 weeks ago, hoping I would regain my energy levels, lost libido and to stop gaining weight as I have gained 10kg's during the 21/2year period. Before Lexamil I took Cillift for 11/2 years. Has anybody else changed over with beter results or worse???
