Can some one plz tell me how to get this saboxin im need of help im so addicted to opiates badly and i want help.but scared to quit cold turkey,,how did you get them prescribed to you???they sound like they help alot of ppl...someone plzzz answer me back

Yes, you can get suboxone from certain doctors, not just clinics. I have been on sub for 15 months, and although it has been highly effective for getting off opiods, the suboxone itself is every bit as addicting. In fact, taking suboxone is essentially trading one drug for another, and you will eventually find yourself in a w/d situation again. Don't get me wrong, suboxone is effective, but nonetheless, please use caution. Take the lowest dose you can, and when your ready to stop, do a slow taper, and more importantly, SPACE YOUR DOSING. For example, take 1/2 mg. every 2 days for 2 weeks, then every 3 days for 2 weeks. Suboxone has a half life of 37 hours, meaning it takes 8 days to leave your body. And you WILL SUFFER for those 8 days (and more). I would have preferred the w/d of vicodin verses the w/d of suboxone any day....

To the poster who said this is a new drug -- it's not. It has been around for at least 3 years because I've been on it for a little over 3 years. It is a miracle - takes away all the withdrawl and gives you your life back. Remember, though, that the sub. is only part of the treatment and you must treat the mental addiction through treatment as well or you will most likely not have long-term success. More and more physicians are able to prescribe this now. It use to be awful trying to find one who took the course and was certified. Plus, they limit the number of patients a physician can treat at any one time to about 15 so it's a matter of timing as well. You can find family practices who accept insurance and prescribe suboxone. It saved my life...

NALOXONE IS A NARCOTIC ANTAGONIST WHICH WE GIVE TO THOSE WHO HAVE TOO MUCH NARCOTICS IN THEIR SYSTEM. IT REVERSES THE NARCOTIC WHICH WORKS IMMEDIATELY IF YOU ARE IN A OVERDOSE SITUATION. IT HAS SAVED MANY LIVES. THE ONLY REASON IT IS PUT INTO SUBOXONE IS TO STOP PEOPLE FROM INJECTING IT. WHEN NALOXONE IS INJECTED, IT STOPS THE NARCOTIC. NO WAY CAN THIS BE ABUSED. EVEN EXTRA PILLS WILL NOT WORK.

I am in my 6th month of suboxone treatment after 12 years of heroin addiction which ended up with me living on the street in NYC for 5 years. I got on a methadone program and stayed on for 3 years until I had distanced myself from the junkie mentality and now I'm down to 2mg/day of suboxone. I now have an apartment, a wife, 2 young beautiful boys and have gone back to college at age 32. If you want it, you can do it.

You wouldn't have been able to do it awhile go, it just recently became available, sometime last year, if I remember correctly.

I know of a Physician that is liscensed to treat with Saboxone in VA. He is with a family practice group. They saved my life! I am 6 days into the treatment and if I knew about this before I would have done it a long time ago. I finally feel proud of myself and feel like a real wife and a real mother now. Life is good.

If you go that fast from Methadone to Sub, you will still experience withdrawals. The different between Subutex and Suboxone is that Suboxone contains Naloxone, which is a substance that counteracts other opiates if you try to take them in conjuction with this drug, or if someone would try to crush, or chew the Suboxone in order to abuse it. This ensures that those seeking sobriety cannot continue to abuse other meds while under Suboxone treatment.

The length of time it takes to be drug free is really dependent on the person, how heavy their addiction, and how well they respond to the Suboxone treatment.

To avoid severe problems, you must begin Suboxone treatment slowly, you start at a low dose and slowly taper up until you find the proper amount that handles your withdrawals and cravings for other opiates, then after a certain time period, as decided by the doctor, you are slowly tapered off.

This does have a distinct advantage over Methadone, since most people end up never getting off the Methadone and have to stay on a lifetime maintentance dose.

The drawback is that you can only undergo Suboxone treatment at an authorize clinic that is licensed to provide this treatment, your regular famioy doctor or addiction treatment doctor cannot just prescribe this for you, you have to go to one of those clinics, and of course, there are only so many in the country, and there are only so many patient openings in each clinic.

So what is the dif between subutex and suboxone.. ???
Can one take methadone 24 mlg and the next day switch to Subutex of suboxone?? And do you go thru withdrawal?? also.. how long before you can get off the buprenorphine all together??
and be drug free????
