Replies To: Xanax as an alternative

Recent Posts About Xanax as an alternative at The People's Medicine Community. I was given Xanax as an alternative for Ativan. I have been on Ativan for some time now and am leary about using Xanax as a replacement. Is there reason to be worried?

I do not think that if used responsibly, ativan and xanax are addictive. Personally, I have been on xanax for a few years now, for anxiety and I dont ever take any more than I need to and I am not addicted to them, could do without them if I had to but there is not any need for me to stop taking them, when needed. I do not take them every single day , only when I am very anxious and mabey one at bedtime to get some good sleep.

Seriously try to stay away from the xanax it is extremely addictive. Trust me on this one.

the only real negative difference that i have found bt ativan and xanax is that xanax causes a huge hangover, You may get better results from xanax. who knows

Why are you taking it as an alternative? Xanax is actually more addictive and has more long lasting side effects than Ativan does. Most doctors prefer to use Ativan when they can get away with it because people dont tend to abuse it like they do Xanax.
