Yes, it depends on each person's physical make-up plus the tolerance effect. If you took 7-800 mg pills ot once & don't have a strong as steel gastrointestinal system, then you are in for a lot of unnecessay pain in the stomach, etc. if you don't die 1st. Always go to the nearest ER when you take a large dose of anything like this drug as the instructions are on the container.. I can't take it because it's an NSAID which I'm allergic to or have extreme side effects. Mike

Personally, I have taken more than 7 800mg of it at once before. (I took 9) But, what i could tell you would be different than what any other person would be able to tell you because, I can take many many many pills within a 24-hour time frame and nothing happen.

Overdosing on Ibuprofen is a real concern:

"Ibuprofen overdose has become common since it was licensed for over-the-counter use. There are many overdose experiences reported in the medical literature, although the frequency of life-threatening complications from ibuprofen overdose is low.[16] Human response in cases of overdose ranges from absence of symptoms to fatal outcome in spite of intensive care treatment. Most symptoms are an excess of the pharmacological action of ibuprofen and include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, headache, tinnitus, and nystagmus. Rarely more severe symptoms such as gastrointestinal bleeding, seizures, metabolic acidosis, hyperkalaemia, hypotension, bradycardia, tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, coma, hepatic dysfunction, acute renal failure, cyanosis, respiratory depression, and cardiac arrest have been reported.[17] The severity of symptoms varies with the ingested dose and the time elapsed, however, individual sensitivity also plays an important role. Generally, the symptoms observed with an overdose of ibuprofen are similar to the symptoms caused by overdoses of other NSAIDs."

Please see the following page for the full article:

/drug_information_online.asp?title=Ibuprofen&page=1000981&ad=true#Human_toxicology
