Anyone Else Trying Savella For Fibromyalgia?
Tuesday, 2/9/2010 9:04:02 AM in Savella
This is a new medication that just came out for fibromyalgia. I have several other conditions involving spinal degeneration , herniated discs, arthritus, etc. I've been taking this medication for a little over 2 weeks now and have worked up to the full dose. My biggest symptom seems to be upset stomach but I don't know if it's from the Savella or from de-toxing from 7 other medications that I've been on for over 10+ yrs. Is there anyone else out there that has started this medication that can give me any information that they may have on it?

Side Effects Of Suboxone
Tuesday, 2/9/2010 7:10:02 AM in Suboxone
I have been on suboxone now for just under a month. I think it is an amazing drug, i have had no cravings or interest in returning to opiates, my drug of choice was oxy. I get up every day feeling happy, and am able to take on what ever the day brings me. I am also on lexapro for depression at this time. There is one problem after i take my dose, which is 8 mg. twice a day, I am extremely tired sometimes to the point where if i sit down I will nod off, so I keep moving and can usually fight through it. I am wondering do other people feel this way or does it get better the longer you are on it? Two other things that are sometimes very bothersome are dizzyness and extreme dry mouth. I just wanted to find out other peoples experiences. Thanx

Effexor It Is Ruining My Life
Monday, 2/8/2010 9:51:28 PM in Effexor XR
I don't even remember how long I have been on Effexor, but I know the day the doctor gave me samples, he said that this is a new medication that I want you to try and see if it doesn't help you more than the others we have tried. HA! That is the joke of the century. I also take sinemet and requip for restless legs syndrome. Little did I know that you are not supposed to mix the medications. Now my body, mind and brain are addicted to all three. I want nothing more than to be off all this medication. I have an appointment tomorrow with my doctor to discuss this option, however, with all I have read, I am almost too scared to try it. I have had the shakes, the electric shocks or short circuit issues in the brain and everything I have heard talked about. It is a shame to think that if my body reacts this way from not taking the medication, what the heck is the medication doing to my body when I take it? I am a fifty eight year old woman with two grandchildren whom I adore and they feel the same toward me. I want so much to see them grow up and see their children, but if things continue as they are now, I just don't know. I have gone to bed many nights not knowing if I would wake up in the a.m. from the electric shocks. They are scary as hell. I realize that all of us have to die sometime, but the good Lord knows that I would like to hang out awhile and see Him come back. H$ELP!!!!! I NEED HELP!!!! Tue, 3/27/2007 7:42:11 PM

Delayed Accutane Side Effects
Monday, 2/8/2010 7:29:38 PM in Accutane
I was on accutane in the early 90's (right after it was approved) and it did the job at the time. Now, 20 years later, I went through a severe episode of osteolysis, where my jaw bones literally melted away. I had 4 gum surgery to remove bad tissues, gum grafts, and I have scaling (deep gum cleaning with the hook from hell) every 4 months. Is there anyone else out there with the same problems that took accutane in the past? The very nature of this problem, that is an asymptomatic periodontisis with bone loss, is a very long process, and subtle one. So if this is accutane related, I doubt that it is a well documented long term side effect yet. Anyway, I am asking because 2 dentist told me that I was not the first one to bring up this link between accutane and gum/bone problems. Thanks, JSJ

Accutane Long Term Side Effects
Monday, 2/8/2010 4:49:43 PM in Accutane
I have a son that took accutane 60 mg a day for six months in a row three years ago. Now after many trips to doctors over strange medical problems, it seems accuatne is the culprit medication that has caused servere joint and muscle pain, severe dry lips, redness in face, eye infections of own immune system attacking itself, systems of osteoarthritis in both shoulders, both wrist and right hand, blood in stool, possible hair loss, abnormal liver function test results in AST and ALT. My son went from being a high school football and track athlete while taking this medication three years ago to someone that is in constant pain just washing a car. After I have researched this drug extensively, I can't believe that the FDA allows this drug originally made for cancer patients to be marketed for teenagers with acne. All one has to do is look online what vitamin A overdose does to someone and then you have the results of what this medication has done to my son. This drug needs to be taken off them market ASAP and the drug companies that make it need to compensate all teenagers that they have possible ruined their future. Shame on them ! What is going on here ?

Est Estrog/mtest Ds Tab
Monday, 2/8/2010 7:21:02 AM in Esterified Estrogens + Methyltestosterone
I have been taking the brand drug Estratest, Not Estrates HS. My last prescription was a generic (GLENMARK) and it was the dark green, same as the brand name. I just went to my pharmacy and they provided the light green (Brenckrdg) which I am told is the higher dose 1.25mg/2.5mg. Why would your company not be consistent with Glenmark generic, and the brand in the color of the drug and dose? I read on your website that your light green is the doseage of 1.25mg/2.5mg. Is this correct and why would you not be consistent with the color so as not to confuse patients. Also, what is the color of your generic Estratest HS? Thank you for your reply.

Here We Go
Sunday, 2/7/2010 11:14:35 PM in Suboxone
Well I've been on and off vicodin for 2 years now, (pardon my grammer and spelling, I'm on my iPhone and it's time for bed). It's always the same 5 a day and within 3 months 40-50. I've always gone the hard way at quitting time, 7-10 days of misery, not hell. Some how within the last two years I have become a sucessful business owner who hasn't lost everything, I've been there before and that's why this drug is so f***ing scary, I'm functional. Long story short, I've lost 25 pounds, pale as a ghost and am getting married in 8 months. Due to my biz I can't afford to hit the good ol withdrawls again so tomorrow at 11 I'm going to a clinic, (f*** kaiser) to begin suboxone treatment. My questions are will I have the night sweats, crazy back pain, runny nose, diarreah, etc? And I'm seeing people stay on suboxone for many months, can't I use it as a taper than quit? Any replies would be more than appreciated, I'm ready to do this for good, not just for me anymore but for my future wife as well, I want to be around for her.

Synalgos Dc
Sunday, 2/7/2010 5:47:43 PM in Synalgos-DC
We are trying to find Synalgos, which my wife has taken for over 30 years for migraine management. A few years ago it went off the market and returning 4 years later under a different manuf. We have just been notified that it will once again become unavailable (Sept 2009). Why is it that this happens? and what if any options do we have. We ahve tried numerous other meds but nothing works like synalgos, which causes her little if any side effects.

Sleepy After I Take My Dose.
Sunday, 2/7/2010 9:57:37 AM in Levothyroxine
I'm 30 years old and this is my third day on 0.1 MG of Levo. It was given to me becuase my TSH is 5.8. I'm a very active person I run 30 miles a week and swim 3 times week 20 laps each time. I've always been between 115-125lbs. I like to be at the lower end of that (I'm 5'0) but I find it hard to stick to strict diets, I've always been very hungry. I also tend to be depressed, and have had very painful, periods. So I hope Levo will help me with these things. I take the dose in the morning and then, about 15 min later I just want to go to sleep. This is the only thing the drug has done so far-- I feel find otherwise-- but why is it making me so sleepy? Anyone else have this? It only lasts for about two hours. Is this a sign that I don't have the right dose?

Dangers Of Mirtazapine
Sunday, 2/7/2010 7:15:40 AM in Mirtazapine
It seems to me that Mirtazapine is a potentially dangerous drug with little information known about it. My veterinarian prescribed this drug in small quantities for my cat as an appetite stimulant, so I began reading articles on the drug and its effects. Although it is supposed to be used as an antidepressant for humans, it has a wide reputation for causing suicidal tendencies in children and young adults. It causes weight gain (the side effect my vet was looking for in my cat's case). It also can cause feelings of depression, and wooziness. I spoke with a nurse who took it and she said the effects of sluggishness and dizziness lasted 2 to 3 days. It can also cause nausea and headaches. It seems to me that these side effects are anything but what a person who is already depressed should be feeling. (suicidal tendencies that they didn't originally have, feeling tired and unwell physically, and weight gain that could cause feelings of insecurity or increased depression) Giving this drug to my cat was the worst thing I ever did. About an hour after administering it to her, she began crying, looking confused, and she could not walk straight. We figured the effects would wear off, but they seemed to worsen. The next day she was holding her head down, walking in circles (trying to walk straight) and she could not focus her eyes. We brought her to the emergency animal hospital, and they called a poison center. Even the poison center had so little information on this drug (especially being prescribed to cats) that they did not know how to counteract the effects. We believe that the drug actually caused a mild stroke in our cat, and the vet said this looked like it might be the case. On top of that, it has a 72 hour half life, so we just had to wait the drug out for her to even feel better. If this drug could cause a mild stroke in my cat, I could only imagine what it could also do to a human. With so little knowledge of the effects, and such long-lasting effects, it seems to me that it is a dangerous and harmful drug for doctors to be prescribing. A few years from now, when it actually is studied more, I bet that it will be taken off the market as another one of those trial drugs that did not work out. Until then, how many people (and animals) will it harm?

Duragesic Transdermal Patch
Saturday, 2/6/2010 4:46:20 PM in Fentanyl
I have been on the Duragesic Transdermal Patch for years. I've never used the generic form, so I can't compare the two. I've been on Narcotics for many years, due to a chronic back, hip, and knee condition. The Duragesic Patch has been more effective than anything else. I've had it all...Percocet, Hydrocodone, Oxycotin, methadone...Unlike a pill, the medication doesn't wear off in 3 to 4 hours. Unlike pills, I don't suffer from nausea. I think the benefts of the patch outweigh any negative results from other narcotics. I only have one complaint about the Duragesic Patch...It won't stay stuck on me. It always falls off. However, the maker of patch, does offer overlay dressings, free of charge. The overlay dressing is a clear, thin sheet, that is applied over top of patch, adherring to the skin around the patch. Sometimes in the summer it causes a minor skin irriation. I would highly recomend the Duragesic Patch to anyone that takes narcotics for chronic pain.
