Metoprolol & Hair Loss
I have been taking 200 mg. a day for about 4 years. I thought it was a coincidence that I've lost 50% of my hair during this time because I am also going through menopause. I just found out that it is possible the hair loss is caused by metoprolol, so my doctor just wrote me a RX for a different drug. Will my hair grow back? It was very long, down to my waist, but I've been cutting it to compensate for the thinness. I just touch my head and lose a few hairs! Any ideas?

Metoprolol Side Effects
I started Metoprolol Tartrate 25mg being one tab every 12 hours. I was in the hospital with pressure of 200/130 , sometimes higher with high pulse and irregular heartbeat. I experienced tightening in chest, slight difficulity in breathing, and extreme variables in my pressures. Most of the time they are in the normal range, but occasionally my systolic has dropped under 100 and my diastolic was 58. I am monitoring my foods and am also taking Ativan twice daily. I am terrified. Anybody else have these variables in pressures.? I have only been on the medicines for four weeks now. I have had diabetes and thyroid neg testing. I was diagnosed with Panic Disorder??? Never heard of it before. All my family including five sibbkings have high blood pressure as well.

Tight And Numb On Metoprolol
Metoprolol Tartrate low dose, but very TIGHT face, neck, head muscles, often coupled with NUMB face and jaw, for hours at a time, sometimes all day and night --- side effects due to the metoprolol? I'm also suffering from tight chest muscles, but often for just a half hour to an hour at a time and feeling that it's hard to breathe / shallow breath (but not sure if the muscle tightness is the cause of the breathing difficulty). Again, might these be side effects? NOTE: It's entirely possible that, instead, I'm simply suffering more and more from weird undiagnosable nerve problems, but I'm worried of course that it could be the medicine, not the condition. BTW, the med is very good at lowering my Blood Pressure.

Side Effects Of Metoprolo
Will this medication cause me to have problems with my eyes at time? They remind me of the beginning of migrain headaches,, that I used to have. They are very annoying and I don't like to drive for fear that I will get one of those.

Different Manufacturers
HI, I have been taking Metoprolol since July . In the 7 months I have been taking it, they have changed the manufacturer three times. With such severe side effects, I don't care if it is the same pill, the filler is essential to the pill and how your body reacts to the pill. It is really frusterating to me that they keep on changing the manufacturer as they please and just saying it is the same pill. I was pretty upset the last time they changed the manufacturer because I was right in the middle of a big 3 day exam, and that was the last thing I needed. But actually what I noticed, I started to feel 100 percent better when I got on I think it is called TAB. The TAETH I was taking, I don't know what the problem was, but after about 3 months of taking it, I started to get really sick in December. Not only was I sick, but I passed out and had a seisure, while I was on the TAETH. Since I have been on the TAB, it has been like 3 days, I feel so much better. And I don't know, maybe I just needed a stronger pill. At first when I started getting sick in December, I really didn't think it had anything to do with the pill I was taking. I didn't even think about manufacturer when I started getting sick. Does any one know anything else about the different manufacturers of this pill? Why are they produced by only certain manufacturers of the pill at different times? And only one manufactuer is made available at a time. The pharmacist told me there was a recall on the Taeth. Does anyone know more information about that?

I was on metoprolol tapar then the pharmacy sent different pill. They sent metoprolol taeth. When I called they said that pill was no longer available and they were the same. Now months later they sent me tapar again with a little sticker attached saying it is the same pill just different shape. Please tell me is there a difference and if one is generic? Thank you

Metoprolol Xl 50mg Vrs Metoprolol 50 Mg
I have been taking one Metoprolol XL 50MG (listed as a substitute for Toprol XL 50 MG TAB) tablet once a day. My doctor tells me it is now unavailable and he must prescribe an alternative. So I just received my new prescription that reads Metoprolol 50 MG TAB (substituted for Lopressor 50MG TABLET). My instructions are to take one tablet twice daily. Isn't this twice the dose I was taking?

Side Effects
My mother is 92 and has been on 25 mg. a day for about 6 weeks. She's been experiencing bloating, swollen feet, redness on toes and soles, unsteadiness, shakiness on the inside, shortness of breath so is using more oxygen and more often. She has a dr's. appt. at noon tomorrow and we wonder if she should just stop the med. or continue taking it until after she sees the dr. tomorrow. I'm unable to reach her dr.today. The only other med. she has is Warfarin 2.5 mg daily. Thank you, Susan

Side Effect
I have been on metoprolol by Parr for 5 years. I recently moved and had to fill my prescription at CVS. It was a different shaped pill so I called them. All they said that it was made by Ethex instead of by Parr and that it was the same pill that I was taking. HOWEVER, after taking 3 pills, I got up in the middle of the night, got out of bed and fainted. I called CVS the following morning and they said that it definitely could be the Ethex manufacturer because it has different fillers than the one made by Parr. My blood pressure was 90 over 60. I then went onto the Internet and saw that some of the pharmacies have taken Ethex drugs off their shelves ... They weren't removed by the FDA. Metoprolol was one of the drugs. Why in heavens name didn't anyone contact the FDA to tell them that the Ethex brand has side effects? What would have happened if I were driving? A pharmaceutical rep told me that when there are different fillers in a drug, it could mean that the drug could have more potency ... in other words, it could be 30% stronger that the pill I was taking, hence my fainting and my very low blood pressure. I hit my dresser and the wall, aside from my floor, and I am black and blue all over. Is there anyone out there that is going to do something?????

Is This A Possible Side Effect??
I'm wondering if a possible side effect of metoprolol was thinning of the skin?? i have been having major problems with thinning skin lately and just trying to rule out all the medications i'm on. my skin is very fragile and cuts easily. i'm only 26 years old so it's not because i'm elderly. my doctor wasn't able to call me back before the weekend so figured i'd see what other people thought of this. thanks everyone who replies!
