my husband suffered after radiation from collitis. He got rafassal caplets for 5 months and later on prednison(60mg aday during alittle over 3 weeks.)All of a sudden he developed being lame;can't move his legs and body anymore.can't stand up ! Is this a known interreaction from those medications? He uses many other medications as well but already for a much longer time with no side effects.In a short time it is as if the mucles faded away after he got oedemia,which also disappeared.He has a heart problem(pace maker and defribilator since 2004). - 2 Replies

Hey guys I was tapering prednisone and I was at 20mg and by mistake I took 30mg (I thought the pill was 10mg pills).

What should I do?

I am on prednisone for secondary adrenal insuffiancy but I had to recently increase my dose because of a bad out break of poison ivy. I have been having chest pain that gets better when I lie on my stomach and a tingling sensation in my skin especially on head and neck. I was wondering if anyone has experienced this with pred. I feel like I'm going crazy and so scared I'm having a heart attack also had an increase in anxiety. - 1 Reply

The best time to take predinsone is during the day because the side effects usually occur at night and it has been proven to make u feel very restless and moody be certain to drink plenty of fluids to keep your body hydrated while taking this steroid i have had asthma all my life it is normally controlled with my albuterol but spring calls for prednisone lol hope this was helpful.... - 1 Reply

Need Help with Lingering Side Effects of Prednisone

I am a 30 year old female and in the beginning of March 2013 I got terribly sick with some sort of cold paired with a severe sinus infection. I was prescribed Methylprednisolone 4mg dose pack. I completed that with only minor side effects however it didn't really work and I was back at the doctor a mere week later feeling just as bad.

I was then prescribed Prednisone 20mg tablets, taking 3 daily for 5 days. It helped my symptoms and I felt better. However, my last dose was Sunday 3/17/2013 and today is Wednesday 3/20/2013 and I am feeling incredibly strange.

I feel weak, tired, irritable, depressed, dizzy and light-headed at times, off balance and I am getting mild headaches. I'm also moody and have a short temper.

I am interested in hearing about any bad experiences with the prednisone. My husband has been taking it for 1 year. He started on 50mg and has been trying to taper all year but in the past his disease has flared up as the dose got lower and so it was increased again. This time he has been luck and got down to 10mg and then began losing his mind. In the last couple of weeks he has had panic attacks, mood swings, brain fades (moments of complete blankness where he is unable to talk/move or anything, inability to speak, dis inhibited behaviour and peculiar behaviour where he will simply repeats words over and over. His specialist says that it's the prednisone withdrawal and this will all improve as he tapers (he is down to 5mg now). He can't work or socialise which is so sad for our whole family for this time of year. Just wondering if anyone has had any experiences like this or know - 2 Replies

Prednisone 20mg tablet twice a day

I have to start this in the morning, is this a lot at once I have to do this 2x a day for a bad cough. ( I have had it for 3 weeks) Also should I take a lower mg closer to time to get off it or what. My mum takes both Calcort and Euthyrox and was recently diagnosed with Celiac's disease. She was told to avoid all things, including prescription medications, with gluten. I'm having a hard time finding out if Calcort (a steroid, like prednisone) and Euthyrox (for her thyroids) have gluten fillers in them. Please advise. Thanks. - 1 Reply

Tapering off from 10mg?

I have been on Prednisone for 3 months, taking 10mg a day. It was not for a pain condition, but rather to aid and support pregnancy.
Now that I am 12 weeks pregnant, they are tapering me off. I am to go from 10mg to 5mg for a week, then 2.5mg for a week, then cease. I have been reading up on tapering and a LOT of people refer to dropping 1mg at certain intervals. Is going to 5mg then 2.5mg too fast?
I'm unsure whether other people who are dropping 1mg do so because they were on a higher dose initially, but I did wonder.....

Obviously i do not want to go into adrenal shock, particularly with the pregnanct. But I am also desperate to get off the Prednisone as well and have been counting the days to start tapering down. - 1 Reply
