Side Effects Of Oxcarbamazepine I have been taking the this drug from the past 16 years. I started with carbamazepine. When the drug oxcarbamazepine was introduced, I was asked to replace carbamazepine with oxcarbamazepine. The dose has been increasing since then. When I started taking this dose, I took 200 mg per day. My medical condition remained stable for 25-30 days with the frequency of epileptic attack of 1 attack per month. After this duration, the frequency of attacks increased. When consulted the doctor, he increased the dose. This cycle kept on repeating itself till the dose increased to 1200 mg per day which is the maximum dose an average adult can take per day. After the dosage reached the maximum level, I opted for homeopathy. Before I suffer from epileptic attack, I get a strong feeling which I am not able to control. I felt this feeling for 1-3 seconds and finally lose my conciousness. After 30-50 seconds, I regain my conciousness and I am able to recall everything gradually, who I am, where I am, so on and so forth. The abnormal acts which I make are: getting excited very quickly, losing my temper, acne on my face, very poor retaining power. After I started taking homeopathy, the additional symptoms which arose are bed wetting, level of feeling which I felt before having an attack increased with slow pace. Sometimes I am able to control this feeling and don't lose my conciousness. Currently I am taking 900 mg oxcarbamazepine along with 10 mg of clobazam (another drug) and homeopathy as well.
