Lyrica & Incontinence
I took Lyrica for about 6 weeks & noticed it caused incontinence or urine leakage. I stopped it & the sx subsided. I now restarted it as the pain was unbearable. It works wonders for the pain if you can endure the side effects. I am going to see if I can somehow control the urine leakage if it starts again.

Does Lyrica Mess Up Your Liver?
I started taking Lyrica for 3 weeks now for my Chronic Facial Pain. I had taken all the chronic pain meds and nothing work. I was diagnos with this illness since I had a root canal done, I even got 2 teeth extracted though the pain would go away. Anyway, I am now having some reaction, my feet and legs feels fat. However, my pain is about 4 in a scale of 10 being very painful. I take Lyrica 3x a day with 50 mg each along with oxycodon (if pain does not go away) and motrin 800 mg for head aches. I been on norcotic medicines for 2 years and now with Lyrica and etc. I am just wondering if the chronic pain actually go away? I am tired of taking all these medicine and scared that I will not have a liver left..............

My Experience With Lyrica
My spell check is on the blink so please excuse any errors! I had surgery In Sept of 2005 on my lower leg, resulting in nerve trauma and extreme stabbing hot and cold pain, in that area. It was almost impossible to walk. I had no relief from standard painkillers such as Vicoden and Ibuprofen. Lyrica was prescribed at 25 mg and provided incredible relief within 48 hours. It was increased slowly to 150 mg over one month. I am now- in Jan of 2007, slowly decreasing the medicine over a one month period, with good success so far. I would like some input or info on the side efects or any withdrawl issues. Also, how long does it take to get out of the system? My experience in total has been very favorable. I did have definite challenges with memory, and loosing my place in discussions with people. I gained 10 pounds, and also had a bit of blurred vision. Sleeping was MUCH improved with the sedative effect of the pill. Taking the full or split doses closer to evening is much better than in morning because of this. Drinking at all is NOT suggested, trust me on that! I have to say that the side effects were worth the trouble, as I was able to walk again and start a workout program. I am curious and hopeful to regain my previous level of concentration, sight and weight! My nerve pain is much improved, and at a very low level compared to pre-Lyrica. I hope that someone can answer my question, and people may benifit with some of the info I provided. ps I am a 35 year old male. Lyrica did also slow sex drive, looking forward to that returing as well!

Lyrica Good & Bad
Ted: I have been on Lyrica 150mg bid for a little over 4 yrs. This drug has been great for me. I started at 75mg bid, for about a week. Then I think 100mg bib for about a wk, Then to 150mg bid. Lyrica works great for me. I had very little to no feeling in back and down both legs. And no feeling in left abd, from mid back around left side to bast mid line in the front. I had 10 hr back surgery. They said that I would be in a wheel chair, that was on 12 Feb, on 2 March less than 2wks later I took my first 2 steps. I walk with out any kind of help. I also have feeling in both legs and feet. And all the in my abd but a space about the size of a dinner plate in front and I am getting more back. I also send 3 to 4 a day (5days a wk) working out at the YMCA I swim walk an work out in the pool, for 30 60 mins a day 5days a week, I also work out, play rackett ball, tread mill and or bike. My withe is up and down 4 to 6 lbs, Thais is why I do not gain a lot of weight, This also good for my hart. The other day I took the wrong pill box down I started them. After about 3 days I started to feel real bad, I looked and saw that there was no Lyrica in there, I started it back abd with in 2 days I started to feel better, NOTE DO NOT STOR LYRICA COLD., I think LKyrica is great an I do not like to take drugs.

Problems With Lyrica
I have been taking Lyrica for prophylactic migraine managment as well as neuropathic pain following discectomy of T8-9 and T10-11. I was previously on gabapentin and noticed cognitive sxs, and minimal effects for pain. After starting Lyrica, I almost immediately noticed decreased pain...I thought it was a miracle! I also had decreased migraines. Now that I have been on Lyrica 100mg BID, my weight gain has become unmanagable. I have gained 40 lbs, and I am only 5'3. I weigh more now than I did when pregnant with any of my children. I have also experienced many of the side effects mentioned in the discussion boards. I told my Dr. that I wanted to get off of it due to so many problems. He gave me a tapering schedule, but the first time I started decreasing my dose, I have started having hives, swelling in my various parts of my body and last night my throat started swelling and made me hoarse. I have taken 50 mg of Benedryl, trying to avoid going to the hospital until I could call my Dr. on Monday. Has anyone else had this reaction to the withddrawl of the medication? Thanks for the response!
