Chantix And My Cdl
I read in a truckers magazine article last month that taking Chantix and driving commercially don't mix and the FMCSA has issued an order to suspend all people from driving while on this medication. It also said that it caused homicidal idealation and suicide in some people. I took the Chantix for about a month and stopped taking it because I am BiPolar and I started having irrational thoughts and couldn't sleep. I was also very irritable.

No Crankiness
Today is 3 months since I quit smoking on champex as it is called in canada.)For the last 2 months I take half a pill once a day.Be cause I was having very vivid dreams and insomnea. So I cut It back. It works for me really well. I've quit twice before, once for 3 yrs and once for 15 yrs Both times it was just about divorce time. This time I was not cranky at all . I went from 2 pks a day and after one wk on champex I quit.II don't have nicotine cravings but I still crave the idea of smoking the social aspect of it. I've talked to people at work that are also on it and they tell people that if your serios about quitting Champex works.Stay on it and usually after a week or so the nausea will go. B Hopes this helps someone.

Chantix And Ovary Pain?
I took Chantix for 12 days. On day 9 I was tempted to quit, as the nausea was awful. Finally (accidentally) found that taking the pill with juice instead of water gave me almost no nausea, so kept going a couple days. The reason I quit taking Chantix is because my ovaries started feeling like they were getting ripped out when I was on my period and again when I ovulated. This scared me as to what it was DOING to my ovaries, as we intended to get pregnant after I quit smoking. I'm 35 and have a history of spontaneous miscarriages. Have any of you other gals had this issue? Or is it just me?

Will I Stop Smoking
I just began taking Chantex yesterday 2/18/07. I was told to continue to smoke for the 1st week and quit 1 week later. That will mean my quit date is Sunday, 2/25/07. I am a 1 1/2 pack a day smoker and I'm not quite sure this will work for me. When does the urge start to go away? I heard from a friend that if she tries to smoke, she gets very nauseas. I wish this would happen to me so I won't want to smoke but it doesn't. Will it by the 2nd week? I have smoked for almost 30 years, I can't imagine this even working but i've heard so many people having success with it, I thought i have to try it. I don't believe that any others i've known to have success with this drug had smoked as much as myself. Am I suppose to be cutting down this 1st week? How long does it take for the medication to get into my system?

Let's Join Hands Together To Let The World Know!
After taking the first treatment of Chantix last Nov.,2006, I started to feel depressed, develop mood swings, constant irritability, weird dreams, and started to pick fights with my husband that it would turn out to be destructive because I would slap him on the face a lot of times and then hit my head with my fists. I would easily cry for no known reasons. I develop insomnia. I am forgetful of matters now, I had a very retentive memory before taking Chantix. I develop suicide ideation. One day after taking the complete treatment of Chantix, from 11'2006, 12'2006 and 01'2007, around 3rd week of March, 2007, I started to feel something bad in my body, I felt extremely weak and I was running a temperature of 103 degrees. It happened again, for 3 or more consecutive days, I would developed a fever of 103 degrees to 105 degrees only at night. So on the 3rd or 4th night, my husband took my temperature again and I was running a fever of 105 degrees. I was so weak and not responding to his questions anymore, so he took me to the emergency of a nearby hospital. The hospital staff put me in the intensive care unit and stayed there for about 5 to 6 days for intensive treatment. They didn't know what was happening at first. And finally they said that I have pneumonia and an infection of the bladder. I was so bewildered why I had pneumonia while I did not have any pneumonia symptoms. When the doctors sent me home, a nurse would come to the house because they had to change the instrument that the doctor at the hospital put into my skin closed to my heart. They had to monitor it and to changed the dressing. It lasted for about a week or so. Over a period of time, I became worse. I developed RLS, Restless Leg Syndrome, I attempted suicide by taking different pills but I didn't die. I feel so helpless and useless. I tried to go back to work and had offers, but came to find out that I can't even work because all my horrible symptoms are a hindrance! My life is dysfunctional since taking Chantix. I want my life back pls. I have frequent headaches, bad chronic body pains, nausea, dizziness, my vision became blurry and develop very dry eyes. My eyes is so sensitive to the sun and lights. I develop palpitation, chest discomfort, erratic breathing, body tremors, develop extreme panic attacks and the attacks would be more than 4 times a day, everyday! I am confused and easily get disoriented during the day.I develop constipation, abdominal pains, indigestion, and heartburn. I have chills frquently and off and on rashes on my body. I have dry mouth and very bad pain, numbness and heaviness from around my hip down to my legs. I have body tremors almost every other day and experienced blackouts about three different times. I develop bad back pains and very bad pains on the back of my neck on both sides. I develop depression and I have significantly reduce sexual desire and a very big increase in weight gain of around 20 to 25 lbs. in 15 months. Throughtout all my ordeal, I never thought that all of these was caused by Chantix, (smoking cessation pill) until I was browsing on the net and saw a statement that says FDA WARNING ABOUT CHANTIX.. I read the article and called my husband about it. I was so upset and and I cried and said to my husband that the symptoms of taking Chantix are the same symptoms that I have! I never had any idea that Chantix is the culprit! At first I thought it is because of my hormones because I am going through menopause, and being a Manager ,I was having a lot of stress from my job. My husband is disable and I can't work, we need some money to help me with my copays for my doctors, my copays for my pills, copays for the lab tests and procedures, our rent, and our utility bills. We are behind in everything! I can't work because of my condition and my Cardiologist told me the same. We just live on a fixed income monthly. I spoke with 4 to 6 lawyers for legal representation, but they refused to help me because they said their criteria is if a person committed suicide and resulted in death or was hospitalized for treatment, then those people have possible lawsuits. What about for those people who didn't? I have been harmed extensivley by Chantix and do not even know if I will get better. Money is not comparable to what I became right now. I want my life back. I have been extremely messed up by this Chantix. We have to stand together to eradicate this drug completely out in the market before it harms and injures more. Besides my Primary Care Physician, I have a Cardiologist, Neurologist, Pain Specialist, Chiropractor, and 2 Psychiatrists. I walk like a 100 yr.old woman and walks like one. I want justice! If you have been harmed and wants to ask any questions, or if I can help by informational advices, please respond.

Chantix Causes Dry Eyes?
I've been taking chantix for a month. It does not cure addiction, but helps significantly to reduce cravings. The only side-effect that bothers me is dry eyes. I had mild problem with dry eyes, but I think now it's worse. Has anybody experienced something similar while on the drug?
