The Difference Between 1mg Ativan & 1mg Xanax

i have recently been prescribed ativan which seems to help some,but i am wondering if xanax would work better

they are roughly equivalent, but Xanax hits the nervous system faster, and gets out of you system faster. Both good for panic, crappy for sleep, wouldn't use either for persistant symptoms of anxiety.
